Having the worst day at work!!!!
It is so bad I am going to give four weeks notice and get another job.
Fleur and I are going overseas for a couple of months in July & August anyway so I will just start a new job when I get back.
I have had it up to here!!!!!!! with upper management.

It gets worse before it gets better. They are starting to patronise me and at the same time I am being bent over. I don't feel everyone is getting a
good deal.
It is a bloody good wage, but I will go f'n mad if I stay in this situation.
I drive a 60's Holden and a 70's VW because I enjoy them, not because they are the fastest, economical or reliable vehicles, but because I enjoy
them.
I will not have a job that does not make me feel good. I would rather be paid less and enjoy what I do.

I've got the opposite problem. Although my job is often high-stress (I work with behaviourally challenged kids), I love it. The problem is that, even
though I get a lot of respect from my peers and 'bosses', I've been told that there is no avenue for further advancement.
I've got applications for other, better paying jobs waiting to be filled in and put in the mail, but I can't quite bring myself to do it..... yet.

Mate i'm just about to do the same. My employers work me to the bone! I work 6 days a week , every week and have to do call out for a week in every
month. Although the money is okay it's not worth the agro , the stress and crap that i have to put up with. I was told today that if i don't like
the way the place is to look for something else. So much for the caring employer , w*nkers! Now i'm a resident i can work for anyone a mate has got
me a start still in the glass trade but working on new buildings around sydney. The hours are pretty similar but the monies nearly twice as much and
the jobs easier . Just waiting for some info back him as to when i can start. Just can't wait to go into work , hand them my van keys and tell them
what a bunch of cu**s they!
Hellbus cheer up , look at your options and make a fresh start.

life's too short to be spending such a large portion of ur time miserable. When it really does reach that point it's best to move on. To many
cranky peeps in this world afraid to take the plunge into the unknown. Wats the point in having heaps o' dosh if ur existance is an unhappy one! Have

Frenzix is right. Stress etc at work is so bad nowadays and it effects you whole life and those around you. Will also shorten your life bigtime!
You're only here once and you have to be happy.
I've been in Oz for over 5 years and all i've done is work my ass off for a company that's been taking the piss. I haven't travelled much , done
an awful lot as i've always been working hard just to get by and in front. Sucks so thats why i making a change!
Hellbus i'm sure things work out , they always manage to somehow!

Pete, take a step back and see whats important. Homebrand baja is right too many peeps live to work and not the other way round. You got to do whats

Pete, You may dismis this advice coz i have yet to be out in the workforce ..... but heres my advice.......
I think you should do only what you have to do to get your job done, dont make any efforts for anyone and some stress will be relieved.
we have this teacher at school in a similar position.... kinda..... he was "relieved" of his job and has 18months till relocated..... since he has
been told this he has stopped wearing a tie (if you knew this teacher i spose you would understand ..... but its his rebellion)..... so take your tie
off.... milk all you can get out of these people, take some holidays, sickies leisure days etc..... get asmuch out of them as you can and then throw
it in....

I've worked for some right (rhymes with runts) in my time. I have resigned in the past over stress, just after my Uncle died and I felt the place I
was working for didn't appreciate the hours I was putting in and I realised my social life was in the toilet.
I've come to realise that unless you work for yourself, it's pretty much hit and miss if the "management" are going to suck. And so far, I've
managed to get mongrels time after time. Morning people, people who want to micromanage, and people who mistake presentation for professionalism are
all on my hit list.
I've worked out how to manage upwards, working around arseheadedness and otherwise manipulate my bosses, but it's nowhere near as satisfying as
doing a good job and being appreciated for it.
Peter, you're doing the right thing. Get the hell out of there. Your obvious skill and results speak for themselves - I bet you'll get a new job
paying just as much somewhere else and hopefully the next mob wont be such mongrels.

I have the luxury of enjoying doing what I do.
But all levels of management suck. Most of middle management are failures from the road that couldn't handle my job, & upper management have
never seen the cab of a train, much less driven one. But they got university degrees.
Well my friends are gone & my hair is grey, I ache in the places where I used to play.

I feel at the moment like I am able to help people and make a difference. I am able to be the charity or care worker, but the govenment (read our
upper management) are getting in the way.
If you think about a panel shop, and I mean a really large one, not a smaller owner operator. More like a franchise type of business.
I am trying to please in pretty close to the order of importance. Although they all rate similar for business purposes.
My 7 employees = happy
The vehicle owners = quality & speed
Upper management = profit
Insurance companies = low cost
If you are not doing as well as you need to in one area of the equation then it directly affects others. I have come to the conclusion that in the
current environment it has now become impossible.
I won't be responsible for killing the horse that is overloaded, underfed and being run too fast over too long a distance.
I am getting off and I am going to walk for a while.
Funny thing is my management have made me new offers just yesterday and I have to hand the paperwork in on Monday. They will have to read the letter
paperclipped to the top of the contract, as it will be a letter of resignation.
I do have a new job lined up. Smaller business.
I will have to please in this order.
Customers = happy
Myself = happy
Business owner = wants me there knows what I can do and is happy. His words were "I need you"

That is exactly what it is like in our company.
They are all either on the wrong train or they got off at the wrong stop.
Some of them missed it altogether
Yeah we have upper management that cant turn a spanner and middle management that wouldn't cut it on the floor.
I know I am management (read manager of a panel shop) but I tell you what I get out on the tools when the chips are down, work Saturdays etc and the
guys respect me.

Tis funny that this sort of subject has come up.
Those in NSW would be aware of the beating train drivers are copping in the media.
I sort of got to yakking with one of the people involved in the current enquiry. She asked me what the problem with morale was, & I explained it
to her like this. See if it sounds familiar.
I've been driving trains now for over 17 years.
With the exception of steam locos, the XPT, the Explorer & the millenium, I am qualified to drive everything that runs on rails in this state.
My road qualifications extend from Penrith to Taree in the north, Armidale & Moree in the north/west, Dubbo in the west & all points in
between & I'm qualified for every system of working to get there.
I know where every signal, every station, every speed board, every turn out & every level crossing is on the entire metropolitan system.
That's my resume.
BUT, if I fuck up(& I am only human after all), I answer to a lesbian with a university degree & no fucking idea what I do for a living.
That's the problem with morale!
I've no doubt I'm not the only one with a job like that.

I am a bricklayer and in my industry you work with some of the roughest heads in the world mean nasty racist types that just wanna put everyone down,
generally dont give a crap about work quality (until someone complains and wont pay, then they care a lot) and think its part of the business to rip
people of for as much as they can. When we move home to perth i am going to live in the country and never work foranyone other than myself again. my
job used to get me so down i couldn't get out of bed without tears. now i am going to sound a bit hippy, but about eight weeks ago i did a meditation
course and do it about half hour daily and it really helps lowering the stress, big time. On the other hand pete my mate runs a small panel shop were
everytime i go in it sounds like the clowns are visiting from the circus they have a lot fun and not much pressure and hes looking for a painter i
think i can ask if you want its in northcote.
