57Kombi Registered and nearly FINISHED

Yes at last it is regoed, hasnt got a motor yet but here in S.A. you can register it with just the rego number,
While I was at motor reg got a private plate, "SPLIT 1" this is white letters on a navy back ground,
I thought that polished ally letters on a black background was close so I got some plates made up in England and have fitted them, Hope the cops dont notice, if they do a reg check it will just show private plate SPLIT 1, and hope they dont realise it shouldnt be black.
The black plates here are about $240 per year, the plates I got are only $170 for ever.

I am just waiting for the wipers to come back from the chrome shop and the front is finished, all I am waiting for is the tinware for the engine, it is getting blasted and then powder coated.

I will post more pics when it is finished.

Cheers
Dave

Thanks Dan, And thanks for the SPLIT 1.

Should be ready for the show, but I am not entering it.
Dont like the idea of some one who hasnt done a bus judging my work.
I did it for me not for other people.

Straight axle is correct, done with a set of PMGBUS adaptor plates.
Also I have fitted 58 tail lights as I didnt think that the old dears would see just one brake light.
I will be fitting rear indicators on the bumper, little harley ones.
As I have said all along this bus is going to be used and I want it as safe as possible, all brake lines, hoses, clips and master cylinder have been replaced, cylinders inside brakes looked O.K. , will see.
Underneath has been fitted with PMGBUS sills, new center chassis sections, outriggers, this was then painted in POR15, the underneath is cleaner than new.

I thought it would be easy once I had painted it but its the little things that slow you down, I have been to the local fastner suppliers for stainless bolts about 15 times, you start replacing one bit and then end up doing the lot.

Glad you like it.
Interior need some work next

Cheers
Dave

I remember when we got those at Tatton Park, all those years ago.
I think A.E. still has mine somewhere.

Spring plates are not touched with PMGBUS plates, they stay in the same position.
Been 3and a half years to this point.

Just finished the interior, Gone a bit hot rodish, with the red vinyl lower sections and the grey headlining.
All I need is the engine, get the tinware back from the powder coaters on Friday, then all being well the engine should be in for the following Tuesday, then driving time.
I have never driven my bus so I cant wait,

Thanks all for the positive comments
I will post some pics when it is finished, should be next week.

Cheers
