Rust, help.

I have a possible project bus that I would really like to restore but I dont know anything about bodywork and I have no idea if it is salvageable. I have attached some images so if anyone could give me some advice it would be much appreciated.

I know that anything is restorable if you have the money and time but unfortunately I dont have huge amounts of either. I would need to get this work done professionally but just want a daily driver, not a show winner, so what do you all think? Is it doable and (ballpark) what would it be likely to cost me?

Cheers
Tim

Don't know about costs/effort, etc but you should be aware that there is probably plenty of rust elsewhere waiting to show itself!

My personal opinion is that once the roof has started to rust thats it forget it, if you can see rust in the roof where else has it rusted that you cant see.
Most kombis are pretty good in the roof , so for this to have so much rust and its not even an old splitty, it makes you wonder is it worth it.
I would keep looking.

Hmm, does the rust have to be repaired for roadworthiness? Bodgy it? Maybe go nuts with the fish oil, that'd at least stop it rusting more. For a while. To some degree.

Too bad hey, gee oxygen sucks! Sad that another nice bus has been written off (by some).:thumb

Still got that orange one david?!

If you want that rust done properly and you don't have a lot of money it basically cant be done.

The hours required to replace all of those areas affected with rust would cost thousands.

Hmm, interesting... I can't really buy that orange one, nor any other bus right now. Got three weeks of Uni left, and it's kinda hectic. Then it's off travelling for the summer, and only after that will I have a job, (and a home!) so that I can do some restoring. You know how it is...:D

I was just surprised that no-one wants the orange one david. You've had that on here for yonks haven't you? Hopefully the guy in england will give you a good deal and look after it.:)
