205gti seats in '71 bug?

I find myself with a spare set of seats from my 205gti and am considering putting them in the bug if they'll fit. I've been too lazy to measure but does anyone know already.

The 205 seats are the comfiest I've sat in and they're quite narrow so I'm hoping they might squeeze in.

they will fit not a worry, i have seen and fitted a few sets when i was in the uk.. there are a few ways to do it and it all depends on you. one thing you will have to be very sure of is the position before u fix,if its a little bit out of line it will piss you off no end when u drive it. size wise they are near perfect for a beetle so with that.. i say do it....

Any tips on how to do it? Do you know if anyone has retained the tilt mechanism?

Hey Rob, this may help.

http://www.vw-resource.com/seats.html#compact

I have seen pics of the conversion you are proposing but cant find where.

Bit of fabricating and anything will fit.
