I emailed Microtech about it and they just had a new version suitable for my engine for not much more then that second hand unit so I think I'll go
with that.
Thing is I don't have any wiring what so ever with my engine(not even the spark plug wires), are they usually all included in an aftermarket loom
like the one from Microtech?

FOR ANYONES SANITY....do not ever buy a second hand ecu. Does you motor run 2 coil packs in the centre, or pack on plug? A new loom does not have any
plugs for the motor..it is assumed you will already have them. You will need to get injector plugs and wire up cam, crank, o2, water and air intake
temp, throttle position sensor and a map hose. And of course coil pacs.
A seond hand unit would have been tuned for a totally different car, and would probably not have initially worked as the cold start is different on
subaru.

microtech.

Don't exactly know what you mean (my English isn't so good) but I'll try to explain, the engine has 1 black plastic
I've looked into EMS but that was more expensive and my budget doesn't allow for that at the moment unfortunately.

The computer that 72RSbug wants to buy is MTX-8 with sequential Fire Ver.2.0 race, its set up for a Ej20t with full wiring loom,4 bosch coil
packs,Dash unit.Microtech will not sell a whole package like this for $1200 .(It is second hand but in good condition not all second hand stuff is
bad. )Just to note the MTX series is a better unit then the LT series. Why iam selling this just does not suit my set up.JVLRacing

Which is the main Microtech site?
I've seen http://www.microtech-efi.com
and
http://www.microtechefi.com
Both list different ranges. It seems that the second site lists the LT8s as the latest but you need to use external igniters adding more cost. I was
thinking the LTX8s would be fine for what I need but I would like to get the latest versions to get all the latest improvements...

Its funny, the Australian website is not actually run by Microtech manufacturer. I have a LT8...but not and x, so I have to run ignition module. I was
on the phone to IN THE WEEDS yesterday as he was wiring up his mt8s and he was told it did not need an external ignitor. Seems his subaru loom was,
like mine, damaged and causing shorts in the coils.
New wires must be run to all sensors, coil packs and injectors to avoid time wasting and possible ecu damage.
Please learn from my mistakes!

Just had a quick look at the sites. If getting an ecu it has to have an "x" in the description...ie. ltx8s. This will denote that it has inbuilt
ignition modules/ignitors. The second site has no contact details and when I was at Microtech yesterday, they said they do not have a 4x ignition
module. I ended up getting one off EMS for $117. The subaru one is $570.
The external coil packs are a bargain at $75 a pair when subaru ones are $180 each.
Call them direct after 1.30 mon to friday( they dont answer in the morning) 02 98085233. This will avoid buying off a distributor, who may have old
stock.

| Hi Matt ,just read site Microtech and said 4+ignition module ,sounds like cut backs on stock to me. nothing mention about Lti
series. When i bought the MTX-8series race they said i had to use 4 coils for the sequential fire for optium performance. They also said must use for
hypo subie motors as well.JVLRacing

| Been over that bridge a few times myself Matt!Wiring looms become damage if curled up to tight, loom ties are to tight, rubbing
agaisnt rought surfaces or poor packaging etc.Must as rule lay wiring looms straight as possible.(Take alook at pics from valla show on my car 2004)

Is this any good? can the software be changed afterwards to increase HP like with the Microtech units?

If I buy this Link kit in the last link I'll just have to connect those wires to the correct connectors on the engine and no need for the stock ECU
from what I can make of it.
Only thing I'm still in doubt about is the coil packs, are those the coil packs in that picture or would I need to purchase them seperately?
If anyone can help me out on this that would be great, I'm tired of waiting and want to get the RSbug on the road.

There is a guy on the yahoo subbug forum who is running a Link plus with twin turbo EJ20, he has also put up his map in the files section so it can
definitely be done!

@ricola, yep and he's a very helpfull man
Finally got some info on the engine management as wel,
Outback in the U.S. charges 1850 dollars US for this package: Linkplus+base program+ignitors+wiring
Another US based distributor (link-electro-USA) charges 1552 dollars US for : Linkplus+program+break-out loom (don't know exactly what that means.
No to decide from where to order.

Dude, they do not include coils. be careful that the system is not a piggyback computer which attatches to the stock ecu and gives it tunable options.
Possibly the "breakout" ecu could be one of these.
I am downloading the catalog with price list as I write this....depending on the price and how much you wanted to spend....get MOTEC. Heaps better
than what you are looking at.
