Smoothing out dash.
I am wanting to smooth out the dash of my 69 beetle. removing the fresh air knobs glove box and replace speedo with new VDO gauge to match set i
already have. Also putting in a new head unit. I have seen dash panels for sale is this the best way to do this,if so where do you buy these from. Or
is it easier to weld in a new panel?? stating from scratch.
I am still not quite sure about removing the glove box i may put the new head unit in that pehaps?

Hey Silver have you seen Golde60's (Kim's) head-unit placement? I'm going to do something similar I think - it's awesome! |

I cut out the dash and welded in a whole new piece. I also welded up the air vents and the holes for the grab handle.

I like all of them cant wait to do this to mine. It looks so much cleaner. So what does everyone do for the light and wiper switches? where are they
hidden or what switches do you use?

i had the knobs relocated under hte right side of hte steering wheel. was gonna go for slim toggles, but where do you stop. you got used to where they
were and which way they went pretty quick. you can see one jsut inside the steering wheel on the right.

You know, I couldn't remember what I did for mine, I had to go downstairs and look! On either side of the ash tray I've got the wiper and headlight
swithes. They're silver and work like the original headlight switch, meaning 2 stage pull out style switches. On the right hand side of the steering
wheel under the dash I have the switches for the spotlights etc. Can't believe I couldn't remember!
