Modifying my Vw

I have a 1968 Vw 1300 beetle and i am doing it up and i was just wondering how do you lower these vws is it just a matter of changing shocks or
what??

If you have a 68 then it "should" be a beam and ball joint front end (unless it is a Suth Efrican import)
There are 2 ways you can go
I have just been through this with a friend. Do a search with my name and narrowed beam.
Pick what wheels you want first as this will effect the out come.
Dropped spindles will widen the track.
Wide wheels may require a narrowed beam if the wheel offset is wrong.
You can run both adjustable beam and dropped spindles for super low, but handling will suffer.
Another friend has a ball joint beam with 195 x 50 series on 6" V Force Spyders and that sits LOW.

Typically lowering a beam equipped beetle (link pin or ball joint) involves having the centre cut out and adjusters welded in (different types but
sway-a-way are the most common). You can just cut and turn the centre to narrow it, but not worth it as if you get the angle wrong you got to cut it
again. You need to ensure a qualified/experienced welder does the work though.
You can keep your beam stock width if you run the same wheels, or may have to narrow it with wide wheels (eg. I run 17x7.5in and had to narrow it 80mm
which created other issues - none of which can't be solved).

then when you put that in all you have to do is reset your rear a bit lower then hey its low and go
anyone who says it's bad to put subaru motors in vw's.....

i bought the geneberge avis adjusters, i was told these r a far better wat to go than the ones where u have to cut the beam, they were pretty
expensive wen i bought them a few years ago, but u could probably get them for less than 3 hundred now
