My 64 Daily Driver, Alberts on (update 13 Oct)

At last!!!!!!!!

Got my 64 back on the ground tonight, for the first time since about December, gotta say the look exceeds my expectations.:thumb:thumb

Geez those 135's are small!! Thanx mattie / steve89

Truth be told theres still a few bits like tie rods that need re-connecting, and still more degreasing, but I've been dying to see it on the ground, and ON ITS GUTS

Yep the tape measure only fits under the nose by about 10mm. Rear isn't on jacks, its on the ground & still standard height. That'll change tho'

The car is covered in dew btw, it's bloody cold tonight, the car don't fit in the shed coz the oval is in there. Only got finished at 12:45 am, oops, sorry neighbours.

Oh well, gotta go feed the baby that i've been holding all this time!!!:P

good job, once the rear comes down the front should level out a bit more and not be so low, thats when you steal a council sandbag and throw it under the hood. :thumb looking forward to the pics.

Yeah I feel bad about the charger, will someone be home tonight so I can drop it off, sometime from 7:30 to 9:30pm?? Battery was dead as a doornail but you get that. Forking out for a battery is one of the last things I will need to do to get it on the road.

Let me know about tonight

Cheers
Greg

got the front tyres from mattie secondhand for something like 80 bucks. There's enough tread left on them for the minimal driving I will be doing with it.

Dunno what car they were on as oe but they are Michelin 135 ZX. A standard rim is just a bit wider than it, you can hear the rim touch the ground if you lay the wheel down.

They are really small overall diameter which helps with guard clearance. Being a skinny tyre it looks good IMO but don't know if there will be much grip in the wet?? Had heaps of clearance dramas on my last 64 which was nowhere near this low, using standard width beam and 165/80's which are the same overall diameter as a standard radial tyre

Hey man, nice ride!
Is it on the road? You should come out for a Ratzenmore run. Just an informal thing that a few of us on this forum have as well as some other marques also.
Great rat sir....great rat!

Hoping it will be on the road in about 2 weeks. I've had that hope for a couple of months though so we will see. Never heard of the rat run when are they on. Havent been to any get togethers for ages hopefully can find the time when the car is on the road, time's always a problem (or timing).

The zx's are often used on the front of street/strip drag cars. Good price as they retail new for $150+ each.

Notoriously scary in the wet, though.

That thing looks sweet dude! Can't wait to see it done.:thumb

I'm pretty sure the tyres are the same as the ones on the front of the Smart cars. I know they're a 135/15 anyways.

Thanks for all the comments guys, I'm hanging to drive it. Just wish it would stop raining when I have some spare time so I can get it finished. Rear end has to come down a spline or two soon, still got to run another fuel line as the old one is cactus.

Dragbug you have U2U
