2.1 litre water cooled type 4 in 1979 t2?
Hi I am rebuilding a 2.1 type 4 and want to fit to a 1979 t2 Kombi, has any one done this and dos any one see any problems? I plan to fit radiator
underneath, and keep the fuel injection.
Thanks Tim

Hmmm, are you referring to a VW wasserboxer? If so, are you aware of the leakage and cooling issues with these engines? These can be solved by savvy
builders, but for my $$$ you would be better off with a Subaru engine, since you have to build the cooling system anyway.

Hi
I ran one of these motors from 1986 - 2004 in a beetle, 1st with 46 IDA webbers, then EFI and later a turbo.
I had none of the issues George mentioned, but they are prone to these problem unless you run VW coolant with distilled water and never let them
overheat. The only problems I had was 2 water pumps and the odd hose failing. Ive sold my motor and now Im building a car with a WRX motor, as George
said, you would be better off with a Subaru motor.
