Oran Park GP 25th June?

Who's heading to the Porsche Club supersprint at Oran Park on the GP track? The usual suspects? :thumb
I did my Kg/Kw ratio for event registration and come up with a figure of 3.62, hope it's not wet that day!

Get back in the garage Paul! Otherwise we won't see you at the track.

You're car is awesome. It's such a sleeper in that new colour.

I swear our cars are better turned out than the Porsches!

Have you painted that engine lid yet?

That's the only thing stopping it being a sleeper.

Mind you having a vw poo brown engine lid doesn't quite have the same street cred as a carbon fibre bonnet on an Nissan GTwhatever.

I think you should add some roof racks and those wire gutter detectors for the next hillclimb.

I'm going to put a bud vase and a flower in my car for the next supersprint.

I like the idea of a bud vase CT, that would look very nice on the dash of the Spyder. I'm off to Vintage to pick one up today!
I've always wondered why the engine lid change when you arrived at the track Nathan?

We change to the brown lid for racing because its the one with the vents in it and keeps it cooler as the standard one has no vents. You are going to have to ask the old man why he changes it to and from events because I have NFI. I dont bother asking/arguing because it streses me out....

Hi JVL,

It would be good to see you at the next event. Perhaps you should change your carbon deck lid for a poo brown one like Nathan's?

What sort of goodies are you looking for?

Pete,

What flower are you putting in your bud vase?

I was thinking lantana.

The official family calender was clear on the 25th..now it has Oran Park written on it.. Best I join that club, Jak can you email me another application form.

JVL, I heard you do not even own the car..its a new concept called "Dreams and reality"...know one needs to know. They post you pics of a car, you pretend its yours and talk about it to your friends, once a year in the standard package(5 times in premium) they give you the car to take/show to people to authenticate the storey and pics. You continually receive praise for the exceptional machine, although continually make improvments/ have issues to stall its return till the next scheduled weekend your package allows. Mate of mine was looking at it and came across your car, so we figured you havnt renewed your subscription or are about to upgrade and tell us you sold the bug.

Is this true, or am I bored....prove me wrong JVL, see at the park, and not with someone elses car on your trailer.

Just when I thought there was nothing left to do except polish the gear stick the engine spat out about 20ml of oil on start-up which it's never done before.

More crank case breathing required?
Worn aluminium pulley?
Loose fan belt?
Broken piston ring?

Was I crazy to think there was nothing left to do on the car.

I hope you make the event Paul and JVL. Even if it's just a shakedown.

We all had a top day, no major problems from any of the AVD cars that turned up. The weather was perfect and the turbo cars had plenty of boost happening due to the cool conditions. Thanks CT for the help prior to the weekend and the fuel run during the day. Pauls car looks sweet in the French Blue and is such a sleeper (don't take it on at the lights OK!), Jaks car ran on song all day long as it usually does, CT had some cooler problems during the trip out but that was sorted without drama and proceeded to cane the Porsches. The cars had a steady stream of onlookers checking them out all day. I'm not sure of any times, I guess they'll be posted in short time.
Do yourself a favour and check out the next Porsche day which is also at Oran Park on the GP circuit.

It felt like real racing:

1. First I broke the oil cooler on some kerbing and had to bypass it.
2. Then I broke a bolt on the header flange and dragged the muffler around for a lap.
3. The oil light came on mysteriously on the warm-up lap and I shut the engine off immediately and parked the car on the infield. After the session I checked the car and restarted it and everything was fine.

At this round in 2004 I broke a rocker clip on the second warm up session. It happened on the second last turn so the wayward rocker arm only flicked off the lash cap and damaged a bit of the valve. Peter Klaack gave me a lift to Campbelltown where Volkhaven kindly donated another clip to get me home.

In 2005 on the second warmup session the engine sounded tappety which turned out to be worn lifters probably due to lack of distance between full lift and coil bind. That year the Oran Park Grand Prix circuit also took out it's frustration about becoming a housing estate on poor Jak, Dieter and Rudi. Jak's gearbox went to pieces under the Yokohama bridge. Deiter was charging along only to discover the circuit doesn't like flat fours and the engine went splat. Rudi hit some coolant whch must have (mysteriously again) seeped out of the track causing him to back his car into the wall.

This year I not only got past the second warm-up session for the first time since 2003 I completed 2 timed sessions.

My aim was to get under 1:30 and I got a 1:28.

Paul had a few little hiccups and Jak's and Peter Mcleod's cars were faultless.

So stuff you Oran Park Grand Prix Circuit! The Hex is gone!

I was there for the day. Got a lift with Paul there and Jak on the way back. REX in a Bug...You Bet!

Great vision of CT coming onto the main straight at the limit of adhesion followed by Jak and Paul spooling up. They had him on the straights but that oval is now a rocket through the infield. Peter should be arrested for putting that much horespower into a Spyder. Jak was about 200 on the straight, what was he doing?

A great day and geez it was cold in the morning!
