resurecting og paint?!
hi there
i have a beetle with og paint its mango green
with a fair bit of surface rust.nothing seriuos just some rust pimples on the surface.
i dont want to respray rather keep the paint and i dont mind the few rust spots it actually looks quite good the rusty red against the mango green.
however i am aware that if i just leave it the way it is and use it as a driver it will very quickly deteriorate more(its been off the road and
garaged for the last 30 years)
anyone got ideas of how to slow the process down or what to do?
very much appreciated.
ps unfortunatly the surface rust is bad enough to not just get away with a cut and polish.......
cheers

Hi Mat,
If you treat the rust to stop it from oxidising any further you will loose the 'rust' color.
If it were me I'd carefully brush on some Rust Convertor to treat the rust and then fishoil.

Hi Mat, i have a og 57 oval, some suface rust and poor paint finish/dull/.I used Kitten cut & polish in a red can then Kitten polish in black can to
finish off. Paint looks much better as well as protecting the patina look. Hopes this helps. Anton.
