Nurburgring... now with pics and vid
Well, it's been a LOOONG time coming but... I have it all booked. Tuesday the 21st I shall be tackling the infamous Nurburgring :bounce
Has anyone else on here managed a drive around this motor sport icon? I've spoken to a few people who have first hand experience & say its unlike
aything you imagine from the videos floating around, console games, etc...
I have been to Germany before and sampled the magnificent autobahns, but didnt get the chance to get to the 'ring on my last trip. So this time I
have concreted in a date, flights, hotels, rental cars (both to get there and for the track) so as I make sure I don't miss out!
If there is any genuine interest, I shall endeavour to give a full run down incl costs if it will help anyone looking to do a similar trip whilst in
Europe.
To leave you guys with a taster, I found this fantastic video from -I'm guessing- the early 70's with lots of classic cars overcooking a notoriously
sharp & blind corner in Adenau forest. I think you will find just about every aircooled VW represented, beetles aplenty, a lowlight KG cab, fast,
notch & squarebacks and so on...
Cheers!

Hi
I was there last night, virtually that is on Forza2. I really envy you, that is one of the things I would love to do before I die, but I would want to
take my own car on a European VW trip around shows and tracks etc.
I've seen the track on Topgear etc and it looks like the graffiti on the track is the same as the game, lots of VW symbols.

correct me if I'm wrong, but every car I've seen roll in these clips was swing axle. right?
did you see the cabrio with 3 passenger and how close he went to rolling it over? ...it made me feel sick.
Take it easy cam, we like you in one piece.

Was all good guys! That place is AMAZING!!!!!!!!! We had absolute
torrential rain during our laps. The whole track was covered in standing water with no dry line and some areas that even had water running back down
the track towards us. Not to mention the fog - which was stunning, there were sections that were completely blind - had to remember the corners from
gran tourismo .
We had a mk5 GTi and it was made for the track in these conditions!
I took a couple of photos and my mate grabbed some short little vids on a mobile phone. Am back in London atm so once I get settled I shall get what
little multimedia I have up for all to see
I'm already planning a much longer trip back there, the addiction level of the place is scary!

Well, I am now home and being the blatant technophobe that I am, cannot get any of the mobile vids my mate took onto my computer. :cry I have given
them to another friend of mine who does alot of multimedia work, he has promised to do something cool with them in a couple of weeks
So for now, I'm just going to gave to bore you with photos...
Cheers.
Here is GTi that we rented. Turned out to be far better than expected, a really fun little car to tear around in and perfect for the conditions.

I finally got some of the phone videos onto my laptop.
We could only get short videos since for some reason the phone kept doing its own cuts. These were taken over the 2nd and 3rd laps.
Excuse the dodgy editing, I did this one myself & just used windows movie maker.
Oh, and if you don't like industrial music - probably best to turn your sound off
Love to know what you guys think
