ADR beam extensions
Hi guys and gals. I've been talking to the powers that be (in QLD) about building an ADR approved beam extension kit. The general proposal is fine -
BUT - the front tyres protruding from the car are an issue. There was talk of full cycle guards that covered the front of the tyre (YUCK) or having to
use a front bumper and/or the full cycle guards (DOUBLE YUCK).
Basically, if the car is going to end up looking that stupid I'm not going to pursue this issue any further. Any ideas????
The second thing I've been looking into is ADR roof chops. Once the first one is approved and had it's torsion test, I will then be able to do more
with full ADR compliance. I haven't put grinder to car yet as this news has only just come through, but it could be a good thing if people are
wanting this kind of modification, in QLD at least.
Thoughts???

in a rodding mag i had ages ago someone made cycle guards to look like old style tyres, tread & all, perhaps these mounted super close to your
rubber would be a decent compromise, stays legal, & looks almost guardless untill your up close

Hi STIDUB. Yeah, I've seen that style guard before. Never like it as they're always only short guards so they seem to stand out, but if it's a
really long guard like these would have to be it mightn't look so bad. Good idea. They could be made from fibreglass and if they're layed out thin
enough could be stretched or squished to suit the cars overall tyre diameter to get them as close to the tyres as possible.

What are people paying to get adjusters put in beams? Or what about a narrowed beam with adjusters? Do they do their beam or exchange?

Hi mate,
In relation to the issue with wrap around mud guards, I saw a '32 ford at wintersun this year that had actual tyre tread as guards. They were mounted
in the same way as usual 'hot rod' guards but it had a few more mounts than normal because of the strength (or lack there of) of the tyre. The guy
who had built the car said it had been on the road for over thirty years with those same 'tyres' on it, and had never had any legal issues with
it.
