you're right, different dynos will give different results, if all are set up right, should only be 2 - 6%, whats the day of the week got to do with
it though, is every Sunday 22* 1016mbar and every Tuesday 16* 998mbar?
We roughly get to see what people are running out of their mouse motors regardless of what dyno was used, because its not a contest just info.

Welcome to the forum Hermann, that a healthy 1914 mate, seems you are still playing around with turbos, why don't you tell us more about your other
engines eg, 2013 T4 turbo. we can just call it 2L.

-- Most amount of HP out of 2L or less
Scaling the Formula One engines (2.4 litres - 582 kW) back to 2 litres would give about 485 kW, but that doesn't really answer your question as there
are severe restrictions such as
- no more than 4 valves per cylinder
- no forced induction
- no "exotic" materials allowed
- limited to only 18000 RPM
Taking these restrictions away, it should be possible to make (forced induction) 1000 kW out of a "2 litre or less" for a short period. You may need
to speak to your bank manager.

Hi.
It has been so long ago that I put togeather my 2L type 4 turbo engine, that I can hardly remember all the specs.
It uses standard type4 casing, crank is also standard, just lightened, polished and balanced. rods is also standard type4, lightened, polished and
balanced. Pistons is KS 95mm (1mm oversize) with vaive pockets for the exhaust valves, in bored out type4 cylinders. The cam is a reground type4 cam
with about 290 deg. advertised duration and .5" lift at the valves (not a turbo grind) on 108 lobe centres. I use type 4 solid lifters and type4
aluminium pushrods. Rockers is out of a late model with hydraulic lifters and big adjusters (they measured out to have the most lift). I run 44 mm
jintake valves out of a nissan L28 sngine and 38mm exhaust valves from a nissan ute (exhaust valves had to be shortened). It is running chev v8 double
velve springs on vw retainers and nissan valve locks. The heads have been flowed by myself and is not welded. I use a locked out vw 2.1 wasser boxer
ignition system and draw through turbo system with a 750 vac Holley. I built most of it myself an have run it with up to 28psi (2 bar) boost without
any problems making 325 Kw.
This is a drag engine only, so I dont know how long it will last on the road. I have only seen type one turbo engines of 1914 making more than 350Hp
and do not own one myself.
Regards Hermann. |

The thread was started to see how much HP is produced with varieties of engine combinations under 2L, maybe suss out some out of the box thinking
(Johannes @ JPM, Cal Look Forums) and learn a few things, cause there's plenty of experience lurking around the aussie forums.
I just hope people don't get confused between engine HP and size of their appendage.

1300 HP
The daddy of them all has to be the most powerfull F1 engine, The BMW 1500cc M12/13/1 engines from 1983-1987 era.
The blocks were sourced 2nd hand and usually had 100,000 KM on them. BMW's thinking was that the structure had settled by then.
Apparently, blocks were to be seen left out in the weather to further stabilise them. In the later years of this engine, BMW discoverd a process which
was performed on the new blocks.
It is also believed that German engineers urinated on the blocks as well!
Sword makers in the middle ages would quench their swords in urine to make them stronger.
Urine has high levels of ammonia which contains nitrogen....Nitriding!
Capacity: 1499cc
Bore x Stroke: 89.2 x 60mm
Max Revs: 11,500rpm
Power;
1983:-Race @3bar 740hp
-Qual @3.2bar 800hp
1984;-Race @3.8bar 880hp
-Qual @4.5bar 1,050hp
1985;-Race @3.6bar 850hp
-Qual @5.4bar 1,200hp
1986;-Race @3.6bar 850hp
-Qual @5.5bar 1,300hp
1987-Race @3.8bar 900hp
-Qual restricted to 4 bar
Pretty amazing for a era with mechanical injection & antiquated electronics!
There were also reports that BMW did reach 1,500hp in qualifying trim in '85 & '86!

365 000k's on that engine when i dropped a valve. case hasn't been split since it was built. All I did was repair the damaged head and replace
exhaust valves, one damaged piston and rings.
So in my books it is STILL the same engine as all i have done was repair the damage. If it had a total rebuild then it would be a new engine so
obviously that isn't the case.....
