What do you do with an old racecar, put it on the street !
I have decided to quit racing and have a good old racecar, since I would never get anywhere near what I have in it I have decided to covert it to
street use. I will be using the 2387 engine, the trans will be converted back to a syncroed box with ZF. Is this anything anyone would like to see?

Mike, having seen (pictures and video) some of the wild VW's running on the streets in USA, why not? I guess, it's just like running on the strip
but the fun lasts longer. On a side note, why quit racing?

I will be 59 years old this year, it's very expensive to run this car in race trim and traveling to the races gets expensive also for the few seconds
I actually drive it. I will probably race it in the UNLIMITED STREET class they have here( drive the car on trip of 25 miles or so and then race it
heads up on a pro tree), but those are only a few races a year. I may be overoptimistic ,but I think I can still run 6's in the eigth in street trim.
Dave and Judy Kawell have built me a new set of heads and turbo system is being finished up as we speak. I have already sold my Super flow heads (
48x40 valves) to John Toomey for his car along with my turbo system pictured in vid. When I get the engine back together I will be dynoing it at the
Kawells, I hope 350-400 hp on race fuel, 250-300 hp on 93 octane.

Mike,sounds like there is still some real passion there! it's good to see. Having raced since the '70's myself, I believe the passion never
disappears - it only ebbs and flows due to outside influences. Age too is no barrier (I also am 59 years old - I know fellow Aussie Veedubbers it's
hard to believe). However, Only you know what is best for you - I hope you do keep racing wether it's in street or race trim.

Geezus-I am also 59 also and have only just found the Sport.I am hoping to have a lot of good years belting a VW down the strip yet.The way things are
going (it's taking me ages to get things done) I will have to be helped from my Gopher into the race seat.I have been racing my street cars,but am
really hanging out to get into my Race Car.Will keep an eye out for your progress reports Mike.

On a side note, how did you find using the predator carb? Always wanted to try one of them, they remind me of a magicians stage prop for some strange
reason....

Very simple carb, closest thing to fuel injection that you can get. I am going to try it on the street engine, we'll see how it works out.I have to
rebuild one soon and I will show you what is inside, very few moving parts. I am finishing up John Toomeys chassis and ordering parts for my car,
will post each as they arrive. The good thing about this is that I already have alot of the hard stuff done. I have to remove my MSD 7al with my 6al
system, but I am leaving the electronics in ( delay box, line locks, ect...) in case I do race it from time to time. I will have to redo the front
cage to allow for either a bigger fuel cell or stock gas tank. I may change it to the same setup as the car I am finishing.
