AP engine prefix


Is anyone able to tell me what engine gearbox combination I have the US sites seem th think it does not exist.
engine prefix is AP 043 - - -
It was in a 75 transporter and coupled to a 002 301 103 transmission with 5 ribs

I was hopefull it would be an 1800 but the AP prefix has me tossed. I am not sure it was not replaced at some stage with an earlier engine.

It sounds like a new engine case has been fitted and that is a police applied serial number. The new cases have no number on them.

I don't think so, the number appears on the crank case and on the fan housing and is factory stamped

Whats the deal with the gearbox it has the 5 rib case but is stamped 002. I thought 5 ribs were 019 or something.
Am i correct in thinking its a type 2 gearbox?
