71 beetle and guards

Hey guys
I'm looking at buying a standard 71 bug. I'm just wondering if there's anything important to know such as a certain part on them is really bad or there expensive to repair. I'm thinking of building a kind of street racer/cal.

and also does any 1 know anything about those flair guards the really wide ones
thanks Eben

nothing really expensive about a 71 - parts are cheap
Its the pre 67's that can get dear

Becareful before you buy wide guards
You need to work out what wheel will fill them
Looks stoopid to be to have a R-E-A-L-L-Y wide guard then having a nice wheel sitting 2 blocks inside

Also there are lots of different sorts

IMO areos are the best - and the double hump I like 2nd last

The double hump with toranna lights are my last choice

Futue te ipsum!!!
