1970 Type 3, help

Hello there,

I just bought a 1970 Type 3 manual and would really appreciate some help to find the best places to get spare parts and so on.

Also any help with registering the car as a historical car would be great!!! I love the look of the car and it has very little rust so I am looking forward to spend my free time restoring the beauty!

Cheers,

patrick

type 3 help

Patrick,where do you live?

I've had my fastback for a few months now and one thing I have learned is that EMPI parts are cheap........ and rubbish.
Find a genuine air cooled specialist and get the parts from them.

I live on the gold coast.

Does anyone know where I can get a description of the fuse box? My brake light isn't working and I am thinking it could be a fuse...

this should help you out.

its off the 71 model manual as the 70 owner's manual is not available yet on this site.

Just a quick updated, RWC is going to get done tomorrow morning (hopefully). I decided not to go for club rego at this stage (don't like the limitations...)

As it turns out the Type 3 I have has a pressure switch for the brake light and pumping a few times makes it work..... still learning...

Just had a quick look (my fuses were ok)! I have all sorts of different fuses in there, do you know which numbers should be 8 and 16 amp?

if you think ya can manage to remove it solo let me know how much with sending it and Ill get some 4X sent over as payment.

Would need all the terminals from under the dash left on and just cut it off as far into the bonnet as ya can.

repair shops

patrick,
get yourself a subscription to VWMA. I imagine that most repair shops that are advertising in there are the real deal if they are still in business. They also often have tech articles that would be of help.

Went to GC Vee dub on Friday and picked up a flex heat resistant pipe, quite friendly and helpful!

Cheers for the tip!
