i believe they are M10x1.0 but I'm not 100% on that.
Give me a few weeks as just ordered some from Europe so can check with my thread gauge when they get here.

I'm thinking 1.5mm pitch, and quite sure they are bigger than 10mm diameter. I'll try and check one today.

I think it might be 12 x 1.25 does that sound about right?

My mirror I had was broken and not accurate enough for measurements.
12 x 1.25 sounds spot on after looking at one. 1.5 as I stated earlier looks way to course, but 1mm looks too fine.

Another question , if I remove the top door hinge pin only whilst the door is closed, will the door drop or move off the hinge? The reason I ask is
because I need to remove them to clean the paint off of the thread for the mirror, I can't clean the thread with the pin in as they start to turn
half way down the thread whilst cleaning.

The pin shouldn't be so loose, but seeing it is, it will be no prob to remove it. The door will be ok if kept closed, or well supported you can open
it being carefull to not to let it drop. Or a substitute pin can be used (M8 bolt or similar)

I knew it wasn't the std thread pitch for the diameter. If I remember tomoro I'll check my nuts as forgpt I already had them.

How could you possibly forget you had them.
Seriously though, I seem to think they are M12 x 1.0.
I'd rather wear a Beetle out by racing it than by polishing it!
