Hi Guys,

I booked the dyno because we had to do a few pules in Johns (stylin) bug because of some changes. So decided to take the junka down for another play seeing as I am waiting for my new bender to make a cage for it. Finally the old turbo gave up with heaps of end play in the shaft. That's what happens when you ask for too much out of a small turbo. But more importantly we found and ignition miss that has always bothered me. The crank angle has a small spasm at around 8000 rpm. If you watch the inboard footage of the 10.44, you can see the tacho fluctuate occasionally. In first gear it runs out of power like it's hitting a limiter. I will try to sort this problem out as I am loosing some HP. The car won't hit the track for quite a while so should have it all fixed by then.

So is that an electrical or mechanical fault Nick? (the miss)
Are you using the dizzy to find that crank angle or do you have a crank trigger?

It's a dissy 2/24 megnetic type.
so I'm not sure if the shaft is moving around at high rpm or if the magnetic charge goes crazy at that speed?

I might have to modify the pulley and go 1/12 off the crank.

does anyone make a chopper plate for a VW 1/12 ?

I know zero about EFI stuff Nick, but I know that "h" who gets on here form Europe,
uses a Cv joint(ABS) trigger from a Commodore with one tooth removed, and a sensor off a vectra.
He mounts the wheel behind the pulley.

Thanks dude,

not sure on the rules in QLD, but in VIC no probs with engineering a turbo 2L.

Kadrons and an exhaust is not legal without an engineers certificate.

Hopefully I will have it ready for racing for Warwick and you will see that it is nothing special.

That is just being silly from a crap car.
Plus I will have to do something about all that extra weight being added for safety.

Well I was planning on putting a cage in it and racing it a bit more, but was not planning on getting it ANDRA tech inspected because I still want to drive it on the street.
I was not aware that Warwick was an ANDRA track and I am cut that I cant come up to have some fun. I have not touched it now for a while until I work out what to do.
I am thinking of maybe canning it and getting back into my pro streeter that has a cage and all the safety stuff done to it, so I can come to Warwick.

What do you guys think?

Dave, Wayne, Adam.........anyone?

Tech isn't that scary to do and get when it's your butt or
safety issue's.To go that fast even on the street, safety
must be part of it.
There is lots of cars in vic with drag racing tech and going faster than yours that are driving
around on street.
I wouldn't race any car or at track that
lets 10sec quicker car out to race.!!!!with out tech! think about it !!(life)
Please don't get me wrong but you new this car will go fast.( power, weight of car ).I think you need to decide on
what you want! race car or street car.
You could race at warwick with no tech (was a few last year ) but safety first (yours)
I would like to see you there but in a safe car.

Is the issue the fact that andra does not allow a bolt in door bar for 10.99 and quicker and Vic roads wont engineer a welded one? Have heard thats the issue in NSW.

Andra tech inspections are a joke anyway, A certain top fueler was and probably still is going down the track with front tires that have perish cracks going right around the sidewalls.....

Yep exactly my point
This is fast street car and I don't want to start adding bars and ANDRA stuff.
If I do that I will have issues with Vic roads. The only way around it is to get it engineered.
BUT It would be easier to engineer my black one. The only diff is that the rear end has been raised and tubbed, but the rest is all stock. So I guess what I am saying is that I am over the Junka.........
