Don't worry, more pics to come.

Got a question about the engine specs, I wrote it all out in a U2U but may as well paste it all here in case anyone else is interested.

Here are details I can remember off the top of my head:
- 2L type IV case acid cleaned and line bored (was a borderline case so decided to go with it to be safe) - oversized bearings were hard to find
- 71mm crank and standard rods
- slightly lightened 215mm flywheel (13lbs I think) - all dynamically balanced.
- stock type IV 215mm clutch/pressure plate
- 94.5mm (slightly oversize) pistons and bored stock german barrels
- 2L heads with 1800 valves installed
- new standard valve springs
- hardened valve seats
- 3 angle valve grind
- stock lifters resurfaced
- match ported type IV manifolds
- dual 40mm dellortos with update kit from cb performance (horizontal discharge tubes)
- upright conversion (Sharpbuilt...required work)
- 36hp aftermarket doghouse shroud modified for type IV cooler
- Mallory unilite vac/mechanical advance dizzy
- Mallory promaster coil (no ballast resistor required)

This is all I can remember at the moment. Should be a nice tame little torquey engine - no fire breather, but hopefully 110hp at flywheel would be a realistic estimate.

Did a bit more work on the sub/speaker enclosure tonight. To get the desired shape I had to put some more MDF support pieces to enable the material to be stapled in place.

The enclosure is upside down if you didn't figure out already....the hot glue gun holds the support pieces in place - the fibreglass will provide the strength required.

Couple of other little pieces to complete the skeleton framework. Again sorry for the multitude of pics...thought its better to have too many than not enough.

Here the material is stretched into place ensuring there are as few folds or wrinkles as possible (although filler will help with minor imperfections.

This gives you an idea of the shape of the enclosure - resin was applied to give the material some stiffness so the fibreglass mat can be applied.

Last pic for now. Next up is Fibreglassing-101 (my introductory course). Best way to learn is to give it a crack I guess!

I should specify that although the sub I will be using initially is a free air sub, I am obviously building a sub box. This is not ideal however one day I will upgrade to a better sub designed for enclosure use. Live and learn

Slotted the enclosure in place to make sure everything fits (which it still does thankfully!). This will give you an idea of what it will look like in the car. Will look nice when painted (unless I get lazy and vinyl it).

By the way there was a cut out left in the front of the enclosure on each end so I can get to the wiring for the 6x9s, and also the coil which will be mounted on the firewall on passenger side.

Some small cover pieces will be made to cover the hole around the back side of the rollcage uprights to tidy things up. Added another coat of resin to stiffen things up a little more before I start applying the mat (hopefully tomorrow after work).

Thanks again guys....you certainly need a lot of patience when embarking of a resto of this nature!

After fibreglassing, the enclosure will receive some filler, glaze putty where necessary, then two pack base coat/clear coat in body colour so it blends in nicely.

Cheers again
:beer

Cheers Pete - may very well have some qsts as it progresses. I only know what I have read, learnt by trial and error, and a bit from talking to a few people that have done it before. Nothing like experience though! Like anything I'll get better the more I do....practice practice practice.

Anyway, I laid down a couple layers of fibreglass mat tonight using a roller to try and get bubbles out of areas that the roller could get to! Looks shabby in the photo but will clean up okay. This is a messy process! Especially when its your first time

Layed down a few more layers of glass and resin. Allowed it to cure then sanded it back a little to get rid of the nibs etc.

First layer of filler today then ran out of time - this is in preparation for paint which will be in the near future. (at least high build primer etc and will spray the body colour when I paint the rest of the car).

Changed my mind again on a few bits of the tank - wanted a -4 AN fitting for the breather line so had one tig welded in place. Although tank has been powdercoated and clearcoated already, the burnt off paint will be patched and matched (with two pack base/clear I had colour matched already).

Also had a -8 fitting welded in to allow braided line to be used from the tank. Again paint will be repaired in time.

Got the stainless steel breather box back today as well - two outlets for both valve covers, and one for the oil filler to vent crankcase. Fitting on bottom is just for a drain plug if required.

I will have to measure exactly what the capacity it, however I was restricted more by space limitations behind the shroud so didn't have a whole lot of room to play with. I will polish the stainless up to a nice shiny finish when I get a chance. Thats it for now - more pics to come hopefully tomorrow after some more work.

Only problem ruckus is that mine wouldn't then be a one-off custom!! ;)

Plus because I am still learning how to glass properly and take too much time to complete it, I would never recover cost for labour as people wouldn't want to pay for the amount of hours I have spent to make mine!!

Someone who specialises in this area might make it viable though. This is my first time so if I can do it, anyone can who is willing to try, has patience, and may be prepared to outlay some money on tools which are a worthwhile investment in any case!
