True there. I used to love hosing off blokes in Impreza's Rx's who had all the looks of a WRX but without the turbo. Gee they got cut when top end 2nd an orange block of flats starts pulling past them.

the reason the Subaru flat 4 sounds so throbby is due to the header pipe configuration. Unequal lengths from all 4 pots and the way they then collect causes the noise. Anybody notice how only a few years ago all the WRC cars changed sound and just now sound like a normal inline 4?? Changed the pipe design and went to equal length primaries.

Daimo can't wait to hear this thing of yours on dyno on saturday. Should be very nice indeed.

yeah, this weeks tune came up really well.........i thought i was just getting used to it, but found a loose velocity stack (like fallen off!) i get the feeling it had been like that since "bug-in" as the issues that developed down there have now gone ........so it's like having the new toy all over again:punk:.........

should i bring the stinger?.........do we get the chance to run with the muffler then quickly switch to the stinger?.......it would take all of two minutes to swap mine out.

i'm not sure if i'll leave here after work Friday (10p.m) and have a kipp or like 3.am Saturday...............strangely enough i haven't been able to con anyone into the day trip yet!..........JVL maybe?

Rod brought his last year and changed it. Made like 7hp difference, It doesn't take up much room so might as well.

Yep most US-import Cabrios sounds like a Subaru due to the Cal-cat exhaust's unequal-length primaries

I was given the honour of a few laps around the industrial estate in Daimo's birch green Berg powered bug on Dyno Day, youve done a great job mate from idle through to 6200 rpm it just pulls nicely, thanks again Daimo. See you at Valla.

Damo.

just realised that vid was not the graphed run, next one is and pulls more rpm for sure

yep, well chuffed

no muffler runs, would have bottomed out on the rollers.....it didn't feel any different on the blocky with the stinger, but maybe my back side was still numb from the trip:no:

hard to tell where peak rpm was. I told the guy he could run it up to 6500rpm and the power falls just before he backs out of the throttle ...........so it looks as if it was definately above 6000 rpm and had only fell by 1KW when he buttons off

I'd love to see some of the $100/hr....Just think of how smooth that 98.something horsepower is.
Sounds beaudifull mate.

Rod has certainly made performance vw engines alot more affordable, the 2165 I just finished cost under $5 1/2k fitted inc. me getting paid some...prob makes about 120 hp:lol:
