sorry about the bad pic, car made 233hp on the first run at 18psi of boost but was to lean, after some more tuning found the problem to be the injectors were to small so had to drop the boost to 16.5psi and made 227.9hp. I took the car for a spin this arvo and still feel pretty quick so i will leave it were its at now.

Good to hear the engine ran well and didn't have any problems mate - I don't think your wife would have let you keep your knackers if you broke it again and had to spend more money :)

Bring on warwick hey!

Good stuff mate, now get the reno's/building finished so you can get that tube chassis car finished so you can get that engine into something not so lardy! Then it will have some get up and go :)

Well I went down to Troy's yesterday arvo and gave the Fasty a going over to get it ready for Valla. Run the buff over the outside then started polishing all the alloy/chrome. Not till you start do you realise how much of the stuff there is in that boot/engine bay!! Car looks great for paint that is 15 plus years old. Few signs of age showing but good none the less. I left Troy to finish off the engine bay with a few minor details to be completed before it gets loaded on a trailer for it's second trip to Valla in the last 12 years!!

First trip was total disaster with a gearbox failure just near Byron Bay. So Troy drove all the way to Valla in 3rd gear with a set of 48IDA's droning in the back with no firewall LOL. Luke Pell to the rescue with another gearbox so a engine out and box swap done in about 4 .5 hours. (engine in and out of this thing is a mission!!) So we got that done then Luke had a bay window auto with no brakes, and no roof that wouldn't start or stop and used the back of my bus as a brake to stop from rolling away down the hill!! During the course of the weekend the car ate 3 oil filters as a pressure relief spring was waay too heavy and kept pumping massive oil pressure and exploding oil filters every time you did a cold start. Then on the sunday before the show and shine we got the car ready and went to start it blew another oil filter with oil everywhere so another major clean up and then it wouldn't go. Holley fuel pump decided it was sleeping in so we had to push it over to the show area. Funnily enough he didn't win best modified type 3 cause we pushed it over there.....

Then on the way home a rocker cover breather hose come loose and started to spray oil all over the exhaust leaving me disappearing in a cloud of fumes. Stop and fixed that then just before Grafton a stupid old moron in a Lancer decied to drive off the road after passing us and showered both of us in rocks so Troy got the dirts and pulled out and passed him to give him a spray and hit a hump in the road at speed (about 130km/hr) and the deep sump bottomed out and tore the sump plate almost off and dumped about 7 litres of oil all over me and the Lancer. guy in Lancer thought we were going to kill him cause he pulled over as we did and locked himself in his car LOL So I towed him to Macca's at Grafton and we rang a mate of Ron Langes(legend) and came down to meet us with a strainer plate kit and we did some rebuilding in the car park to get home. Just as we hit the border Troy lost headlights and drove home in the dark with just parkers.

After that the car sat for quite a few months in disgust with what was a horror weekend for it's first outing to Valla and hence hasn't returned till this one. I did ask Troy if he was going to drive it but his exact words were after last time it's going on a trailer!! So this time the car is very much prepared to go and fingers crossed all bugs and issues have been sorted for a trouble free weekend!!

Brendan ... that would have to rate as one of the worst 'bad luck' trips I have ever heard of.

Hope this one is an enjoyable and event free one.

On the bright side showering the lancer in oil after what the driver had done with stones probably puts a smile on your face today still!

x2 on both accounts :)

The second Valla for the Fasty will DEFINATELY be better than it's first....man what a weekend saga, reckon a few of us have had disaster trips like that, always a good story.

i think i will look for the f*!kwit in the lancer while im down there..haha, part of the trouble last time was new engine only running a few days before going and no test time but this year will be much better. Car hasnt been back to valla for a long time due to the work and money spent on what it is today, took me a long time to pay for that..

Troy would have to agree that him pulling over in front of the Lancer and me being right up his dot pulling over I'm pretty sure he thought he was going to cop a hiding. As for covering him in oil I do remember the idiot putting his wipers on and making it a hell of a lot worse!! Ahh the memories LOL

well another year over at warwick and after the rain stopped it was a good weekend, the fastback ran well and stayed in one piece but failed to better last years time but did better the mph with a 88.5mph, 3mph up on last year. One pass also had my best 60ft with a 1.95 and would of been the quickest et for the car but started breaking down at the top end which only got worse slowing my mph to 83mph. With the extra horsepower traction was the issue with street radial tyres and low pressures but still heaps of wheels spin leaving the line around 4500rpm but happy the gearbox stayed together...now on to the new car...
