yeah that's us Mac........what people forget is most of them would only be useable to a pommy and the parts are used to keep your's and my good ones
going down the road........but yeah, there are some keepers too
funnily enough the green one now sits with it's original front end and gearbox in it again after 16 years with 5 different gearboxes and 6 motors
going through it .......the "other" white one in pics with my
ratsto got a tune up, some perishables replace, some rust fixed, through rego and is now with a young lady as her first beetle she always
wanted.....another one back on the road
Matt, not cast, straight up, wide apart but no roller on the accelerator?........one small plate for height adjustment that does both clutch and brake
pedals at the same point. weird. different plate that ties end of clutch tube, fuel line to the ones i'm used to. much more solid than the tinny
things i was always breaking and welding.............colours hmmmmm, you're invading my subliminal thoughts now hey.....argggh make it stop "Matt"!

That photo of your shed with the bugs on the second level was awesome. It made the 6 year old inside me come to the surface once more.
It would almost be a shame to paint it. Couldn't you just clear coat it?

If they're not cast, straight up, then I thought late, I just did a late into early swap and was easy, just needed a new hook welded further to the
right for the early pan. Biggest thing, if that's the case will be dip switch access. I converted to late relay and '65-67 (type 3 only?) indicator
switch that uses the late dip sw on the end of the stalk.
Much better to use for flashing on coming bugs .

Can you let us know what the gearbox code is? (if it appears to be the original?)

Trying to identify Aussie 67 trans codes.
At some point before the end of production,(just before the fully imported 68s arrived),
VW australia used their Oerlikon machine to make some 4.125 crownwheel and pinions.(very strong)
It may have just been for the type 3 vehicles, but havin only seen one in about 500 gearboxes, my guess it was planned for the beetle, just before the
Germans closed shop on the aussies.
That late pedal assembly in Daimos car indicates it was probably one of the last Aussie '67s.

Sh!t Daimo... that's a pretty serious lookin accel pedal hinge you got there !!!
Tryin to work out what your ignition setup is... looks like a Haltech ignitor in the mix, but can't figure the rest of it out... especially with the
feed from that coil going stuff knows where ... care to spill ???

yeah was waiting for someone with a observant eye and decent brain to pick up that gear Dave........
yeah hellbug/Ray Box electronic ignition runs through ignitor........and to the bosch coil.....the output of it is earthed as required by the Jocobs
omni pack to use its signal properly
from there the omni pac which is a mini "computer/smart" coil acesses the load on the bosch coil and adjusts as per requirements.....better cold
starts, increased mileage, less plug fouling blah blah.......it's the one that feeds the engine
the jacobs coil runs power through the fuse box direct to the battery isolation switch and earth to battery terminal
key power runs through bottom half of fuse box and runs to ignition, second coil as well as oxy sensor, oberg filter tattle tail etc
now the spaghetti of leads........ always ran a long one piece coil lead through the firewall but obviously issues arised if any problems, especially
since it is HEI style at the coil end so couldn't just plug up any old coil if the jacobs failed.......now i'm going to the MSD feed through, but
decided to leave the long lead there until it runs sweet and still waiting for double HEI ended lead to finish the cabin side of the coil feed
anyway
so yeah Ian, sort of right, there are two leads there at the moment, but ceratinly both coils are in use simulataineously
still enough energy produced to blow rotor buttons apart every 6 months........installed 1997 ran all sorts of combos with it since.....a good $K
worth of gear there which is why it's inside the car. certainly had the dirty little theves stumped when they tried to hot wire it years ago. there
is no power in the engine bay hey
while you're asking questions Dave, there is another thing in the one of those picture that seems every day until you look closely........
yeah love that accelerator pedal, just a slight skate boarding influence there (bearings).......works a treat. move it round the floor till it sits where i want. dead constant travel and most importantly heal
and toe set just how i like.

Man that throttle pedal will make the weight bias to the right quite severe!!!!
Is the jack the regular but not quite or is it something a little more difficult than that ??
Looks like she'll be on the road for next week....well done mate.

The jack I'd assumed had been modded for lifting up/preloading the spring plates on the torsion bars... bolt goes into shock mount, horizontal goes
below spring plate, jacking up as normal pulls the spring plate up... but now makes me wonder if maybe it's used for some other crafty purpose ???

hmmmmmm, it's 2am.
just finished front brake calipers, and lines from resivoir, tightened all the lines up front and back.
marked and drilled pilot holes for rear sway bar in spring plates.......guess that leaves me with just topping up gearbox oil and mount harnesses in
the morning
and who said a carpeted/heated garage was silly.....i'll have to dress heavier to get into bed
hasn't been raining for hours!
