bosozuku - jap car styling trend from the 70s thats taken off again, basically over the top weird bonnet extensions / huge flares giant front lips,
big exhausts and odd angles/shapes & a very very forward mounted oil cooler with alot of extra lines running out a headlight hole/grill to get to
it...
http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/1179/4022k.jpg
< see that for an idea, i fail to see it, i just see a semi common spot to run a cooler on a beetle, even with my jap influences

Really tempted to get a 5 speed gene burg gearbox. Worth it in a daily driver or not really?

Did you get the gearbox from the gene burg website?
They are definitely pricey, I wonder how much it'd cost for the labour of installing it...

Seb mate I probably wouldn't spend all that cash on a 5speed before youve done any engine work etc.
Still if youve got the cash it would be great

yeah 5 speed is great, but you won't be needing one for a while yet Sebastian
done a bit more. had a play on the W bootlid
window felts and seals, had to be done.....even tho it's a throw together rat, windows rattling in my ear is not a personal favourite. of course the
new window seal/chrome surround peices were nothing compared to the original so the seal was removed and refitted to my old chrome....bit fiddly but
worth it. other than that quite happy with the fit and quality of the bits
handles back on the outside and chrome strips finally back on
looking like a nice clean up of the sides will happen and fresh white paint will provide a two tone, you can see the contrast in a couple of these
pics......slowly running out of excuses to not be driving it again

Of course it is a reference to the game
First game I played on my mates 64, was fitting when I found out it is also a German name!
But you're right, engine work first and then 5 speed. One day... /dreams/

Helbugged,
She's definitely looking the part!
Those window seal jobs, how long did it take?
Caught someone trying to break into Zelda the other morning, he screwed up the window seals on the drivers side.
When I wind down the window, the rubber seal gets caught on the glass and starts to pull with it. Making it either impossible to open the window or it
just pops and sounds like the glass is cracking...
NOT GOOD!

had a couple of questions re these seals, so may as well write it up.....
no comparison really, aftermarket V original...
mount faces heaps shorter on new ones and bonus is the holes on the original will line back up perfectly when re-installing
drillout the rivets...interestingly the holes in rubbers for the rivets are located exact same as original, so lines up easy as......
popped them back together with combination of new and old clips.......brazilian chromes only had 4 locating clips, original 6!
gave it a polish prior to rivets, good as new and ready to go
removed 1/4 window stay out of the way and treated mount face for trim with rust preventative.....moved into place and popped clips in with aid of
screwdriver....topside goes in last
screws needed to be removed with hand drill and were replaced with stainless and some anti seize grease....easy to locate straight back where they
came from....
1/4 window seal replaced with "stay" out of car.....
one lip goes in and the other teadeously puched in one blade width's at a time...
top screws again needed drilling out and replaced with stainless to put 1/4 window stay back in....left loose till window lined up nice with the new
seal....
short felt into frame, no need for glue as its nice and snug.....
loosen off bottom guide frame on other side and pull new long felt up through....
with both guide frames loose still and felt loosly installed and lined up, window can be snuck into position with the winder mechanism wound up out of
the way....
then sneek the lift mecahanism back down and combination of it and manually lifting can enable felt to be pushed into alignment/home up top....
with felts lined up and operation checked it's time for the lift frame to go onto the freshly cleaned window...both mechanism and window are carefull
backed down again......correct seal placed onto window edge.....
end of lifter is well greased and aligned so retaining clip is just visable towards front of door at full "down" positioning, to provide enough
travel in guide through full up/down operation.....
block of wood and some helping hands to hold against window.....tap tap tap tap tap.....
wind it up itno channel, this time with some adhesieve under the felt (often won't need it due to snug fit)....
tighten up the guides bolts after a few trial runs...
say hello to ya mates and move onto fiddling with something
else.....
