just a bit about the "driving on private property" thing
the fact is that nearly all the std issue traffic laws actually apply the same as being on a road
"EXCEPT" if you have your gate shut !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yes,,, if your gate is open then the traffic laws apply simply because it is open to the public
if your gate is shut then "Most" of the traffic laws do not apply "EXCEPT" the wearing a seat-belt law
yes you must still wear a seatbelt if you`re traveling in a forward direction, even if you`re on you`re own property, gate open or not.
basically anywhere that is open to the public is then std issue traffic laws apply

I reckon all pedestrians should have to be licenced too. Have a number plate of some sort (lit of course for night time purposes) embroidered on the
back of all their items of clothing. That way the Police can identify all those idiots who cross against the lights, jaywalk, etc etc. Those
bastards are all out there tonight, even as we sleep, wearing out the bloody footpaths, banging the buttons on the traffic lights 10 to 12 times a
time (just think of the wear in those things) rubbing the paint off all those pedestrian crossings every time they put a foot down. And not one
bloody cent of insurance! Enough is enough!
Hang on a minute, I thought this thread was about those nasty Police. You know. The ones who come when you or your family member is bashed, raped,
robbed threatened etc etc. 24 hours a day. 7 days a week. In all weathers. Isnt it about those bastards? Lets get back on topic here folks.

When I was about 12 or 13 (about 1970), I went through the only stop sign in Port Macquarie (then) after almost stopping but not quite, at a stop sign
because I was running late for school. A copper pulled me over and gave me a stern warning.
I have never knowingly not come to a complete halt at a stopsign since. I am glad it was a free lesson.
I do agree though that some (a vast minority) coppers are not very fair (I was targeted for a while by one), but to be honest, it happens in all
occupations.

Most police in country towns are pretty good, except if you have to prove yourself with burnouts, neon underbody lights, doof doof and very low cars
then expect some attention. After some of you blokes grow up a bit you'll get a bit less "Harrasment"

It's not who you're injured by... it's who's at fault... and also how much everyone involved contributed to the accident happening (my gf works in
this area arguing with lawyers and barristers, and you should hear some of the stories... including a guy who was run over by his own car after
getting out to fight with a 2nd guy... didn't put the handbrake on properly... and then tried to claim on his own CTP)
Basically tho cyclists don't have CTP insurance (in Qld at least)... so if you're injured where the cyclist is at fault it's either so sad too bad,
or get set to sue the cyclist personally.

How many regular drivers are injured by cyclists being the cause?
CTP for cyclists is cheap in NSW.
(I have it just in case as it also includes TPP insurance)
I read it on samba, so it must be correct.

cyclists....... stay on the cycle paths,please....or the velodromes that were paid for by the taxpayer.not the windy 80 or 100km/h zones the rural
northern gold coast .it will only be a matter of time before someone is seriously injured .the lanes are so narrow and with the amount of cane and
sand trucks on any given day traveling along it,somone is bound to come to grief. im all for sharing the road as i dont own it ,but i dont want my
life changed by anyone taking unecessary risks on it.

You know some cyclists do not have a choice as it is a means of transport. Most cycleways are a shit waste of money and go from nowhere to nowhere.

yes i do understand.but alot do have a choice .in this instance these cyclists are not using thier bikes as a mere mode of transport, but for their
sport and recreation, and dont care about puting themselves or others in danger.but if someone was to swerve after not seeing you on a narrow road
,and collide head on with a mother and her young children,id ask you...could you live with this?i know i couldnt. so lets cycle safe.not on narrow
dangerous streches of road with the attitude that ïve got a right to be here"so bugger you motorist. its the law of averages,if you do this
,eventually you will change someones life forever.i just hope its not mine or one of my loved ones.somthing to think about. rant over .thanks for

This^
now I am a cyclist but what other cyclists do shits me off. arrogant f**ks most of them dressed like they are in the Olympics, most I have passed on
my bike don't even say hi or wave. just ride on by taking up the whole road.
Then I get shit put on me by drivers coz this little so and so's ruin it for everyone even when I do the right thing.

Is this an anti Police thread or a cyclists thread?. By the way Dave Becker is a cyclist. He looks a bit like an Olympic hopeful at times. He only
ever rides on the road and he only ever rides during heavy traffic periods. Just like me. Nothing sadder than a 65 year old in lycra!!!

I actually found a nice NSW highway patrol officer at the local servo on His way to Tamworth [country music capital] for the easter weekend. [doubledemerits weekend $$$]
He was driving a turbo new FPV [I think He said] falcon with stickers all over the car..
a Very large round highway patrol badge on the sides
and mobile RBT across the rear in very large letters..
He was from Sydney where He is based.
Was a nice fellow out of His car.. lol
No Video cameras on Him when getting fuel.. lol
