Yeah, fill me in on the wire trick too. I haven't heard of that one. I didn't know the copper could pull out.

I made a mistake when I replaced all the pipling, filter and electrics when I got the Dog-O-War. I purposefully put the filter out of the way and ziptied it to the barwork around the side of the engine. Bad move as after a week the filter had nearly worn through from the vibration of the motor shaking the hoses to the filter and making it rub. So lucky I checked it!

The previous owner/s had a bit of nouse as the have run solid pipe through the fan housing as I checked it and the grommit yesterday.

Yes, all 80's magnas need a good firing - insure them first as thats the only way you'll get some money back from them.

It's bizarre, nearly every accident or near-accident I have ever had has involved a magna, the thing is: is it the car?, or the drivers?
People crap on about volvo drivers, while a magna is lurking just around the corner ready to do the real damage. I have nightmares that involve magnas, seriously I do.

yeah a dizzy cap is only about $20, just pick up a used dizzy for cheap from a wreckers or any VW aircooled shop, im sure they have a heap lying around.

shouldnt cost you more than $40 for a used dizzy.

Wire trick: After all hose ends are conected to their places (ie the brass pipes) use hose clamps on them. When hose clamps are in place take some wire (of the sort used to wire the nuts onshift cuplings, think its called engineers or mechanics wire?). Twist wire around the hose on the side of the clamp away from the pump or carbie. Do not twist it so tight as to cut the hose. With the other ends of the wire twist, firmly twist them around the pump or carbie body.

Hope that helped.

The metal pipe through the fan housing is standard. It's Ok as long as the grommet is there otherwise it can wear through as well.

Also, on another post, the brass pipe that goes into the carb is just a push in fit, after time it can loosen up and pull out.

Cheers
Steve
