quad turbos are great for the wank / show factor, but you would find two decent sized ones easier to set up, plumb, and produce better power and torque.

Having said that, go for it - I'd love to see it done !

Flatline perf. in sydney seem to think it's easy to set up. the only reason going the 4 rout is cost, 2 larger ones could set you back as much as $1800 a piece so far the cost has been only a couple hundred $.they also reckon it's easier than a single and the same set up as twin. this set fell into my lap.
anyhoo see how it runs but they wont be on this motor going on later model rover EFI, pissing off the carby setup.

56ovaltine yeah cool catchin up with you aswell. the bus if off to mikes shop on Thurs for a decent dumping. you can pick up a second hand turbo in good condition for $100 to $400 the rest of the cost is in the fabrication work needed to get it plumbed up.
pics will be here as soon as i get it back.

wow!

only four turbos, why not have one per cylinder. The throttle response would be awesome :thumb

I agree about fitting two though. Maybe you could sell the ones you've got and find some others. I am sure they'd go real nice on a smaller motor.

Whatever you do it's gonna be awesome though.

What tranny are you using. I saw some US guys using vanagon autos in turbo sandrails. they reckon they are heaps strong if you build them right.

vanagon autos need funky mountings apparently. Not sure on the specifics, but someone on shoptalkforums has one in a drag car and it's set off to the right.

Change of plans guys it was getting a bit hard finding go fast bits for the Leyland motor so I decided to toss that motor and conversion (it’s for sale click here >>> http://www.aussieveedubbers.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=24738&page=1#pid... ) and go for a bigger motor. A little while back I picked up a complete conversion for a Holden 308 turbo pattern motor and am going this route, reason being that parts are readily available for these motors and are also cheaper to build for example I was after a 4 barrel manifold and could not find one anywhere as with the Holden V8 I can pick up a top of the line 4 BBL manifold for about $100 at any swap meet big ported heads for $500 etc: they are also able to produce more HP than Leyland motors, in conclusion in the very near future my bus will be powered by a Holden 5L motor which should go a lot harder as the current setup which only made just over 200 rear wheel HP.
Cheers wacked1

update Holden 5L 308 engine build I've just picked up the heads today, they are ported polished jobbies with L34 valves roller rockers medium sized cam and lifters they flowed approx 400 HP induction is a custom made EFI with 4BBL type throttle body setup see pis in above post, bottom end not too over the top just freshened up with 30thou over flat top pistons and ARP rod bolts. Not sure of HP yet but will let you know when it’s in, hoping for 2 weeks time and should be good for 14’s if not 13’s this engine ran a flat 12 at eastern creek in a LJ torana. Can’t wait to get it going

I should have posted this a lot earlier, but here goes anyway...

A friend of mine is right into P76's, he has about 15 of them, including chassis #001. His brother is (or was?) even the club president. He has been talking about a conversion for quite a while which uses the late model Commodore V8 injection and engine management system, upping the power from the P76 4.4 litre to around 185 Kw. That's a lot more than the stock 140 bhp this motor normally produces, and it comes with economy advantages as well, all for around $900.

While this is not first-hand info, it may be worth a look for anybody wanting to increase the power from their 4.4 converted kombi. It obviously won't help wacked1 now that he's decided to go with the 308.

setting up the dash with autometer gauges not too sure on how it should go. either replace standard petrol gauge with complete autometer gauge in dash setup or leave standard petrol gauge and cup mount the rest on top of the dash
