Hey Kim that looks awesome!
Shows the trade-off of having pateince and a firm vision of what you want in the end.
Anyone got the number or website for 'Delux'. Looks like they're earning some cred on this site recently |

hehe looks great.
I bought an eliminator shifter when I was in Japan from flat4 as well.
They are pretty good, although not quite as tight as a berg shifter.

It's sad when you know your credit card number, expiry date, bank account bsb and account numbers all without having to think twice.
Makes you realise that these little german cars are great at absorbing lots of cashola! But they're worth it...I know your pain and pleasure, can't
wait to see some more pics!

ok, so obviously a whole S H I T L O A D of work has gone into the prep work before the colour got laid.
thanks Sash - top job so far
and i do have many more photos to prove it.
but as i was going through all the photos that i have taken in the last 6 months or so, i got a little sick of looking at white (high filled) panels,
and got really excited when i saw the paint going on for the first time again....
makes you realise how far its come.
so here goes |

and yes, thats the shiniest inner wheel arch that i ve ever seen too on the left of the picture.
underside of body, interior and inner arches were all painted on the rotiserrie.
all the areas that were gonna be difficult to get to when the car was put together
here you can see some more of the inner arches and interior
this pic is one of the ones that you might want to refer back to an earlier pic for comarison. notice that the inner arch has had some meat taken out
of it to allow for the narrowed beam to fit. means that i can still run shockers!
heaps of work in this mod, and most wouldnt notice it. even has the rolled lip installed back into it for strength.
factory style narrowed front!
other side, with sasha working diligently on the pan
rears got the same treatment

eagle eyes will have picked up some more mods to the underside of the dash in the second last pic
gotta thank alan for the inspration on that one, although the theme is slightly different.
i have a black faced (stealth install, but didnt want to lose my glovebox) stereo that i want to dissappear from sight. so the mods allow for it to be
set back from the face of the dash
also, you can see how much better a job you get when the body is painted of the pan. all that stuff that will never be seen. even the areas that will
mount onto the pan rubbers got the treatment

here you can see some better shots of the stereo
looks easy now, but there was heaps of work in this mod
the stereo was done by carefully cutting a 'flap' from along the line of the skin under the dash and peeling it downwards.
then some triangular peices were wlded along the sides of the 'flap'.
some glass, a little bog, and some high fill later
sounds easy, but i can assure its easy to do badly and takes skill to make it look factory like this |

No probs for the inspiration Kim (dash)...it is cool to see it done another way (I wouldn't have thought of doing it like that but it looks
awesome!). I know what you are saying when it takes a lot of work to pull it off correctly - I had some tough times trying to get it to look
right!
Well done mate, I may have missed it but is the colour L11 pastel green (may be way off the mark).
Sounds like our bugs will be almost related - I am having lots of exposed metal inside, ragtop, dash mod, green (but different hue)....would look cool
side by side!
Keep it up!
Alan
I am envious you have paint - I can't wait until I can lay some shiny stuff down for a change.

nah, ruckus. i cant take any credit apart from keenly observing and helping any way i can on the weekends
sasha from delux custom restos has been doing all the hard yards, with some help from andrew who looks after the mechanical side of the show.
i cant praise these guys highly enough.
sasha is a perfectionist and the product that you see in the pics is only this good because of his hard work
also gotta give a shout out to brad connell for the engine and doing the right thing by me when i discovered some probs as it started to get fitted
up
just purchased the final load (not the first time that i ve said that) of vw bits from wolfsburg west.
still gotta spend cash on stereo, interior and some bits n bobs for the upright conversion on the t4
