If it's 90mm off the ground put some high profile tyres on it or pump the current ones up lots... 10mm isn't that much:P

o.k. things are moving, car is in container enroute to nsw!!!!!!,cool
the only downside is the idiot who steered the '54' into the container sheared the window regulator teeth on the winder -WANKER!...not
impressed.
so a lump of tape is holding up the drivers window, christ it's broke & it ain't even left the shipping yard.
have bought a new '67' dual lift regulator today, will fit it when i get it back in about 8 weeks..ho hum...
see you doodes in the new year...boomer

I thought the official measurement is floor to sill, the height of a packet of Winnie Blues. Less than that, you're a guru, more than that and
you're not trying. You might also need various 'engineers' certificates for all those mods ... Everyone seems to have a set of rego-rims for the
RTA. Give you and idea, I've just IRS'd my bus, added an Lbug box, Adjustable beam and a few other little bits ... expecting Engineers Certificates
to be 600-800 bucks - on top of the years Rego.
Don't freak too much, the RTA told me last time that I needed to get the warm air demister fan working on my splitter - depends which inspector
gadget you get....lol....
welcome ... I bailed the homeland a long long time ago, never looked back ... xcept to laugh...and you can also loose those giant plates and get some
cool ones....

I was thinking the same things about the rego plates.
Bad luck you aren't coming to sunny Victoria, no annual rego checks down here, just get it past the Vicroads crew and never have to get a roadworthy
cert again unlees you sell your ride.
As far a s the LHD thing goes I am sure that there is a 30 year rule and yours will be Ok. I think it is Australia wide as well.
Welcome to the land of the long weekend, hope your stay is a long one..

Hi... can't wait to see you car. A couple of things I noticed are they don't like full harnesses as your only belts. You might have to install some
normal belts (leave the harnesses in if you want).
They have a limit to how dark the window tint can legally be.
The Decibel test is with a db meter and they all vary enormously. it has to be no more than 96 DB at 3 feet, idling at half the redline (from
memory). What the redline is is anyone's guess... no one including 2 engineers I spoke with had any idea. I told them it was 6K rpm. I failed the db
test. Had I told them it was 4000 rpm i would've been ok I think. My car is lower than 100mm and It passed. You're not allowed to have braided brake
lines/hoses. I don't know about other braided lines in the car, but you might want to check. i don't want to discourage you, just don't want you to
get screwed or shocked once you get here, and it looks like you can just as easily modify anything yourself to make it legal. Fantastic car. Hope this
helps,
Bill

thank's for the info, harnesses have a seat belt type latch to get out of them, they are legal here ....mmm, have to see about them.windowsmight be an
issue with the tint,as it is not window film it is proper glass.exhaust noise level has been now reduced by fitting a thunderbird hide away
system, sounds pathetic now lol, bring back the stinger !!lol.
the only braided lines on the oval is the fuel lines.

You should be able to run harnesses but no back seat if you want to go down that path.
Thats what I'm doing with my 54 as i dont really want to drill holes in the pillars of a car that one of the features of the car is the pillars. Not
that i am pushing illegal stuff but you can always bolt your rear seat back in after approval.
Good luck with the transition,

Last I knew the darkness of the window tint rule came in around early 90's or something and any car which had tint/windows darker than the minimum
fitted prior to this date was OK. Tell `em you got it done ages ago and you might be able to get away with it.
*disclaimer: any/some or all of this information may be slightly/compleltely incorrect. I'm just going off what I remember my mates telling me
regarding window darkness. Figured you may be able to say "oh I got that done ages ago tho" to see if they do complain if u can loophole it out this
way
Enjoy Oz.

Lovely ride, harnesses no problem just take them out as 54 model doesn't need seat belts for rego. Just got my 56 blue slipped a few months ago and
left them in no worrys and no rear seat belts. Good luck just take it there you never know might not have to do anything.

Rock on!!! :bounce
As far as the tints go... I think something similar to the seatbelt rule applies... if the car was made before a certain year (1987???) then the tints
can be opaque and still pass rego!
well, maybe not opaque... but you get my drift.

car was delivered this afternoon, to say i'm a bit pissed off is an understatement, they have smashed the w deck engine lid on both sides, big chunk
outta the paint in the middle of the lid, mountings are fucked, dented running board, car has been bottomed out so there is a fucking great dent in the
underside of the left rear wing, paint is chipped on the bonnet, left semaphore, front valance, dash, window regulator is totally shot on the drivers
side, back seat is broke, bucket seat bases have been ripped up,rear number plate ripped off, billet numberplate light fucked.
so much of my own work has gone into my ride i feel totally devastated.

Usually an insurance company will try for recovery against who ever did damage. If you or your shipper in UK has photos of it prior to putting
seatainer or in it you should tell company. You also have right to claim for excess you have to pay if you can prove which bastards did it.
It may be difficult to sue union members though.

the line she's virtually ship shape again.
insurance sorted, green slip payed, going for the blue slip in the next couple of weeks, just need the personal import plate fitted to the chassis ,get
the registration plates from the rta & i hope we will be ready to roll....

Very nice Boomer....
It now depends on who does Your Blue slip....
They do actually drive Your car and test the brakes with a meter attached to the brake pedal....
If You find a nice VW type person....
or probably just a person who appreciates old cars may be better...
I was nervous about the adjustable front end.... but nothing was said... its really too low at the front...
Maybe He didn't know about adjustable front ends....
:P:P
You can always just weld in a Nut over a hole to put Your non adjustable front suspension up...
with a grub screw....
My tinting wasn't mentioned either.....
didn't even try the wipers, washers or horn !!
Well, I suppose He may have when testing the brakes...
but I don't think so, as the wipers always end up a bit high
