Hey Dave got the papers, not sure if I'll be right to race, but got a question or 2.

Who wrote the Berg trophy rules? no prob just curios about things like having to drive the car for 15 min at 110kph. Who decides, and on what basis does scrutineering take place, and by who'm?

What about engineering and paper work, there was a bit of BS flying around last year about this, I don't think that Ill be able to get an engineering report done by then for my recent improvments, plus not sure that car will even be ready. The last thing I'd want is anyone to start bitching on the forum.

Other than that I like the rules it all makes total sence.

Geoff in conjunction with Gene, drafted up the rules a few years ago. I hold them and get to scrutineer as well.

It would be a shame if you carnt make it ... we need / want a good VW representation at the event, so we have a better chance of getting off the ground next year.

Wouldn't a track hire solve that problem?

I'm sure a lot more VWs would be racing too knowing they have exclusive use of the track. The locked in absolute confirmation would also make people be prepared to travel...

Last guys I know that hired the track were quoted 5 - 7k. They got it for 5,500. That's just over 100 cars at $50. Gate is then profit.

Also, remind Peter Pike of his email 24/02/2005

Shouldn't be any problem getting his support.

Whats the deal with the spare tyre and late model vw's / Audis . Does it really need to be there ? Do the same rules apply for air cooled and water cooled ?

So what about r32's ? They have a tyre repair kit . Do they have to run that as well ? Does it mean you have to run the toolkit as well ? Late model cars are heavy enough they should at least be able to take out these things which rattle in the rear

Changed the clutch in the Speedster today, just need to set the wastegate pressure, clean the big injectors, fit the new NOS nozzles, slap on the drag radials, polish the carbon fibre body and it's all go....just kidding. ;)

I have 2 r32's going . Do they have to buy a spare tyre and try and make it fit in a space thats too small for it ? These rules should really be updated

Hi

The reason that a spare has to be fitted is that on a Beetle etc, it is an important part for crash protection.

A few kilos in heavy car is less burden than in a lighter car.

If it is only a safety concern then all watercooled VW's shouldnt have to run with a spare tyre . Its the same story with the fan belt . There is no practical way a late vw/audi can have the belt removed for a run and then re-fitted . The a4 / passat cars have to go into service position to remove the belt . I know its a big advantage for the aircooled cars and I would just like to bring the playing field a little closer for air and water cooled vw's otherwise there will be a big rift in the vw community .

Will we see a good number of dubs?

I know a couple of cars were entered in DC before the nationals came into play...

is anyone going to have a lockable car in the pit area? My pit crew just disappeared. Need somewhere to stow the toolbox, and i'd rather it wasn't in my car while it's doing barrel rolls along the 1/4. will there be an AVD area or something?
