Warm ups are good but as long as you have a good engine oil you wont be shagging away engine hrs by poking off and taking a gentle dack-dack down the road . That said oil pressure does need to be lifted, the golden juice needs to pour thu the conrods.

The little toy in my avatar gets a warm up, also because she will behave herself a little better (I like warm hydraulics) , she gets a 6- 700 degree Celsius reading on the pyrometer when shes working, and that on a cold engine would DEFIANTLY NOT be on my “to do” list. Hitting an engine up to full horsies and RPM straight of the bat it a little INSANE.

But there again if your only doing the 5-10 minutes around town the warm up and cool down of short runs will shag out your motor anyways. But the long weekend drives are to make up for it aye …

For my round town put put (non VW aka Cressida) that had to have its head shaved due to electrolysis (got a little hot) so usually I give her the time to warm , a CD change, and if I am procrastinating till the temp sender starts to send.

Its all personal choice, warm up I think is a good thing (not excessive), and on those cold mornings makes the heater hot when you climb in too!!

if you dont get the oil behaving this can happen!!
