Check the years printed on the Spark plug leads for build date/year of manufacture. It also helps assosiate which car it came from.

Mid mount sump is a from a Toyota Crown. Have heard these make between 178 and 191kw in stock form at the flywheel.
Front or rear mount is either a Toyota Celsior or Lexus Soarer. These engines came something over 190kw standard.
There is also a VVT-i version manufactured in the mid to late 90's. I think youd have a little trouble finding the right Aftermarket ECU if you went with this option. But once again she has even more power that the two above.

Ahh yess, I forgot that Mr Pilmer's "unique' buggy had a lexus in it..... SO is that the one that you have been talking about when you say 'the race car' ?

I can remember watching Max drive at the Beverley Short course and having gearbox issues..... he is absolutely crazy that bloke :)

My mates commodore (that reub posted a pic of) made 450 rwhp at 6lb boost. It would break the rear wheels loose in 4th gear with 3.4 diff gears at 200km/h. They did this while street tuning it. He has no license at present because of this car! In 5th gear at redline (7000 RPM) the rear wheels were doing about 280 km/h. He didn't do that speed while driving on the road anywhere though :) it was done stationary on a burnout pad. New tyres to the belts in 58 seconds.

The engine has since been removed from the VK brock commodore and fitted to a VN. We did the entire conversion in a week. The car is being re-sprayed at the moment and will be registered in about 1-3 months. I'll post some pictures if anyone is interested.

The conversion is using the lexus transmission, which apparently is good for 800hp easy. It uses a standalone electronic shift system so you just put it in drive and press a switch up and down to switch up and down gears, like a formula 1. The gear is displayed on a 7 segment LCD display.

The VK has since been tubbed and is being fitted with a 4 link rear end, shortened 9" and a "built" lexus engine. His uncle is doing engine development on the 1uzfe in a speed shop somewhere in brisbane.

Thus far the new race engine is fitted with a stock crank, H beam rods, forged custom wiseco's, mildly ported, custom grind cams, and twin XTR 1200HP turbo's. Running methanol and 45lb boost it made 2250 crank HP on the engine dyno. The commodore will be running this engine by the end of the year and should be able to do 8's and maybe high 7's.

I installed a Wolf 3D ecu on both commodiores and I can say for sure that the 1uzfe is the most advanced engine i've ever worked on. The amount of additional sensors these engines have in them is amazing. There are two conversions in Cairns at the moment. The other is using an autronic, and it made 240rwhp.
