That is of course if the middle is not closer to one end than the other - like a tennis net thats higher at one side of the court than the other (usually the side im trying to hit over)!

whats restored anyway - if u buy the car as a rat - then restoring it could be making it what it was when u bought it! that would take no time at all - unless u wanted to baremetal respray it before restoring it to how it was when u bought it ( i.e. in rat form) this could take years - particularly if your piece of string had 3 ends or even worse was joined to itself - then it would be near on impossible! Ill bet some louiser has something to say about this post being a waste of time and having no expertise !!

Id prefer to do a resto like dasdubbers - that thread only took me an hour of so to read and i was thoroughly satisfied by it - gave me an overwhelming sense of achievement (his achievement, but my sense of it!)!! now thats priceless!!

My Resto has just passed 8 years - the floor pan is finished (just some finishing touches to do) but the body has only just been loaded onto the trailer to go and be bead blasted .... so I reckon about another 8 years! :duh

how many times are you going to change your mind on what you want?
I have thought about : German Look, Cal Look, Resto Cal and the list goes on.
It has been 7years and it is no where near anything that i had imagined.
But it is mine and i like it.

you say you have everything ready to go, i say theres two questions & two answers

question 1-are you doing it all yourself

question 2-are you getting prof restorers to do it

answer to 1-depends on how much time you can put in on a weekly basis

answer to 2-depends on how fat your wallet is

Took 4 of us 3 months to reassemble my mates EH for the Nats a few years ago. That was every night for at least 3 hours. Vee dub should be easier as it is less complicated than a supercharged chev powered EH.

barls, look at it this way. count to six...
one,two three, four, five, six.

quite simple really isnt it? what is the middle number between one and six? everybody says three correct? naturally, because half of 6 is three and three time one is three (wow, so primary school did help me!)

but look at it this way, lets count again...
one, two, THREE, four, five, six.

notice that the number three is capitalised, as most would say it is the middle number, however, look again, and notice that on the left hand side of the number three, there are only two other numbers, whilsty on the right there are three...

theorectically, the middle of a piece of string can be further away from one end to the other.

...i now apologise to all that have wasted their time reading this.
