If you all want to ignore the hillclimb/supersprint challenge, how about a bra and panties wrestling match. We could go silly and have a celebrity match between Boris, Holzl and Popjoy. Has any one thought that the last 2 look related?

Hi Glenn

Can u give us the level of "I've got a" I'm involved with" & now "co-ordinating/assisting with a "mates" WRX/Type 3 transplant.
Did u even know that your conversion is now engineered.?

What post number was that?

Jak

Huh? You "don't" seem to be "making" much "sense"...?

I have no doubts there are heaps quicker cars out there.....My idea of a race would be a 200km drive to a supersprint, then a 150km drive to hillclimb and then back to the creek for a 1/4 mile run. Oh I forgot..2 passengers as pit crew and tools.

I have not popped off to anyone in the street how fast my car is.... what I said was that shit talkers look even more stupid when they loose. Havnt had a race for a week, the last was a new, worked evo 8 and I did him by 4 car lenghts. My partner used to own the rx3 with plates IDO 10Z. He ran a 10.4 at willowbank with the front wheels off the graound pretty much the whole way down the strip. It was illegal, he had mini tubs and ran 30psi, so I know what rota motars can do, as does everyone else. Its the look on their face after herbie beats them. Is your little Mazda engineered, and do you use it as a daily driver?

Are the subaru clutches the same diameter Jak? They would work with less force if the diameter is bigger..

Good to know about kombi levers fitting, is there any particular type? I was just going to use a late bug one which is longer than earlier ones but I think I'll go kombi now so my wife uses it a bit more :thumb

I also put a kombi clutch lever arm on as well as they are 1 inch taller than the L-Bug, this helps make the clutch feel lighter, especially when in daily traffic.

On my Kombi I will be using a Kennedy 2100lb with stock plate and lengthened Kombi throwout arm.

I am using a 002 (1600) belhousing on a 091 (2 litre) gearbox which gives me a 200mm clutch (off the shelf parts). The only downside is that the throwout shaft in the 002 is not as big as a 091 which would have allowed me to run a type 3 arm which is longer.

I will cut lengthen and box up the existing arm another 15mm to get a softer clutch pedal.

Shimmo is the man for this information!

Paul , Simon & my self paid a visit to a guy in Perth thats does the vw boxes for the off road boys .He also builds the street vw gear boxes here .

Its a big $ box for kombi 4K

I going Rancho by the look of it unless I can get hold of a G50 box .

The type three is a direct fit so thats the better move .For me it will have to be a rolling start or I will brake it for sure .

Not long now before I bring the Dragon home

The only reason my box went, was a stupid flat change into second. Teeth all done! We just took a mainshaft out of another l bug box I had and combined the two. Now its sensible chirps into every gear like Jak....Its faster that way anyhow. Albins mainshaft is $650(lifetime warranty) gearsets are $350 each...that would be a pretty unbreakable box for about $3000. Drove to Nelson bay and back on Sunday...big smile.

Looking at the reno box the only saver is the crown wheel , its 15mm larger than the 6 rib kombi gear box crown wheel , just that bit more saves the box
first gear in the reno is very low ( good if you have a truck )
