Warwick week-end

Give us a up date Graig!!! How are the entrys coming along. Anyone from other states coming ! SA ,VIC ,make it a holiday . I think if someone was thinking of flying in to Brisbane, there would be many people willing to help them to Warwick or rental car together (idea). Graig have you thought of EVENT SHIRTS ,to mark the occasion.

I'm just crawling out from my wombat hole today after finishing Issue#11 and sending it off to the printers. Has the Wivenhoe Dam filled backup since I've been away? There is a six page special on the Warwick Weekender, and coverage of the Compak Attack at the WSID. Nice shot of your car Pete.

I'm full on into the final preparations for the Warwick stuff from today, and I'll start posting updates from this week on.

Entries? So far Rod Penrose, Wayne Penrose, Rod Richardson, Dave Becker, Boris Orazem, Wayne Fenech, Fabian Corlo and Neil Penboss have the track to themselves - officially. They're the only ones who have sent their entry form and money in.

Plenty more say they're coming, so I guess we'll have to wait until the September 1st cut-off to see the final list. It would, however, be nice from an organisers wish list perspective, to know earlier? Hint, hint!

T-shirts and bumper stickers are in consideration - so far I need ten of each.

Is a definite maybe good enough for the moment?

It would be good to have a t-shirt for the event, but it kinda falls around the middle of the "I have too much to do yet" list.

Things are starting to Hot-up for drag-week-end. JUST made our hotel bookings at Centre Point Motor In ,which is in middle of town (07 4661 3488 ).Was talking to the Manager ,she said there is a big reunion on that week-end.(BE QUICK GET IN ) Plus check with Craig Hughs about price IF YOU just want to race for week-end and not camp ,dinner or breakfast. Not listed on his Event details on his webpage.

Good on you Judy, would love to see you and your crew up at Warwick.
You have been there before, I think, for the last Volksy drag meet that was there.
This one will be twice as good!

The '57 arrived just before Valla. I can't believe how straight it is and how little rust. She's currently sitting in the 'quarantine' area of the house while the tonnes of rat and mice poo, country dirt and crap are removed. I'm working from the front to the back on this drag rat. Since these photos were taken the guards have been removed and the front end and suspension cleaned. Drop spindles (anyone gotta set of K&L drop spindles they want to sell?) will be fitted and the front drums reconditioned.

The motor is finished - a thumping 2.3 litre Type 1 monster. Pity the driver won't know what to do with it!

A re-conditioned (I haven't tested the motor) 36HP motor came with the deal. I'll put this to one side for the moment.

i made the mistake of the the better half have a go of the buggy at willowbank on the weekend
she ran 12.79 @ 105mph with a 1.67 60ft(the 60ft happens to be the cars best) i then found that a vaccum line had fallen off so i had a go and ran 11.80@ 114mph my best 60ft is 1.68 all in full street trim as driven to the track unfortunatly she now says i can go to warick only if i let her race:D

G'day Craig

Just popped the entry form in the mail, let me know if you don't get it in a day or so.

You can put me down for a shirt as well Large to Extra Large.

Yes, I have somehow found the time to come up with a t-shirt design and closer to the event I'll preview the shirt. Price will be kept low, and can be ordered if not able to attend. Bumper stickers have also been done.

The weekend is looking pretty sweet! Lots of variety in the entrants so far, and a few surprises as well. Even though there is plenty of work involved in getting this thing off the ground and running, I'm quite looking forward to a chance to have a run on the track sometime during the weekend. I'll have some pics on the '57 progress soon. Motor is done and front end all re-built.

First step.

I put in a leave form at work (and with the girlfriend) for 2 days either side of the event.

I didn't break anything roundy-roundy racing last weekend so I might as well drive the car from Sydney to Queensland to drive in a short straight line.

Is there any chance of a chicane at half track?

Here is a pic of Rod Penrose competing at an open meeting on 20th April 2002. Has anyone got a shot of Rod using all four wheels?

Yeh I have Craig , but as you can see he had better stick to 2 wheelin' and staying in a straight line . Those corners can be very tricky !!
