This is a very affordable option.
I would hope that we can get some stockers racing too!!
I might get my streeter running and talk my brother into coming up to drive for me.
Any one live near by and can bring their Volksies, should be a great week end.
Any one need anything , or some convincing to come.
This type of event was what I wanted when the first Jamboree was organized way back in '91...now it is a reality.

Craig may be able to confirm this, but so far, the guys that I have spoken to,
and are planning to race are :
Rodney Penrose(8.96)
Mike Waldron/Dave Stoker(9.71)
Wally Penboss(10.16)
Mike Kristen(9.42) depending on the sale of Cranky(what a bargain!)
Peter Page(11.29)
Wayne Penrose(11.60...but getting faster!)
Rod Richardson(11.96)
Macca&Morgy Smith(11.67 with Gas!)
Andrew 13BVW(11.80)
Alan Agyik with????
Brad "blup58" with???
Fabian Corio with...T0P SECRET!!!
Dave Becker? (12.80s)
Who else?
Trent?
Henry?
Ross Freestone?
Mark Calus?
20BVW Bus?
I know that for a lot of guys, it is a long drive, but would still like to catch up with everyone that is flying or driving up to spectate.

Hopefully I'll be going with my 57 panel, does the 1/4 in just under 17secs, but I very much doubt I could replicate that as my response times range wildly.
If not it'll be the 1600 dlx bay and 1200 karmann ghia

Hey Guys

Al Agyik's car and time is yet to be determined, he may be able to shed some light a little closer to the date.

I'll be in the KG - have no idea what time it will run. 2110cc, 48mm dellortos, K8 cam, Street Eliminator Heads, Gearbox 1st and 2nd are standard 3rd and 4th close ratio (not sure if 4th will even be hit??)............

P.S First time I have ever run as well..

After some input on the following guys...

1. Anyone want to take a guess and give me a rough idea time I may run???? Lots of variables but any guess????

2. Anyone out there got a stinger I could have, borrow or buy for the weekend.

I've had a new muffler made up so the car is much quieter on the street enables me to take Little Blup58 for drives without causing him to go deaf but I feel like it has chopped the power by 1/3rd???

Would love to run a stinger for the weekend.
Cheers

Yeah I will be there in something or other! I think I'll be slow but its all about having fun so I'm looking forward to it! Although not confirmed just yet, we are hoping to run the test and tune at willowbank on Sat Sep 9.

By the way brad's header is a berg unit (not sure of flange dimensions).

There is a specials category - if it has 50% or more VW components it can run. Check the website for details.

I'd lurve to tow the notch up, but we've finally made the decision to wait for a 1/4 mile run (confident of high 11/low 12 sec's), sorry would love to help boost racer numbers......anyways could end up there with the streeter none the less.

some of you softies are complaining about the distance you have to travel to get to Warrick !!
Forget small issues like this and come to enjoy the event and the atmosphere .
Just for the fun of it I have entered my dual-cab ute . I will sit behind the steering wheel for at least 12 hours while towing a huge 6m x 2.4m x 2m high enclosed trailer with a car inside it , get to the venue , un-hook the trailer and race the tow-car !!
How much more fun could you have ? :bounce:bounce

If driving in a straight line for 200m voids your warranty,
it is not worth the paper it is written on.
Would love to see some late VWs there...any one bringing an R32?

ahh didn't notice that Dave, sorry for the confusion. sick of walking past the notch & looking at it sitting in the shed so i simply asked what it needed to run, did that and we're out there again.

and yes Jeff U is enjoying it again. i have also told him the next project is to get the "hellbug" motor running again, wether he likes it or not:dork:

cheers,

Will be attending the event, but as for racing i'm not sure, i could race my 04 GTi stocker, or slap together a 2litre type 4, Vforce cam, DTM, twin 44 IDF's in my 66 bug but i don't think the trans will hold out also getting an exhaust made is were my dollar factor says no.

This is my Volkswagen, there are many like it, but this one is mine. Without me my Volkswagen is useless, without my Volkswagen, I am useless.

Good stuff Adam - can't wait to see the bug run. Kudos for making the mammoth journey!

Damo, mate if you don't get the type IV done, just have a crack in the Golf. Its all about just getting out and having fun, and the more veedubs there is having a go, the more fun it will be for drivers and spectators.

Chatting with a few veedub mates today, and I concluded that some people may be apprehensive about pariticpating because of the "intimidation factor" in drag racing - ie. worried your car is too slow (therefore embarassment), or concern about stuffing up or not knowing how to stage etc. This is part of the reason why I have never given it a go before at events like the jamboree etc.

I see this as the perfect opportunity for any novices (like me) to have a go and learn in a friendly environment with help from the seasoned campaigners. It's not often an all veedub drag event like this comes up, so even if you have stock 1500 type 3, or mild 1776 in your bug.....don't be afraid to get involved. I'm looking forward to the weekend and can't wait to have a run in whatever I get there in!
