Had a great day at Mike's yesterday, carbs are sorted, Mike changed the venturies during the week down to some 42's to make the engine more drivable
off the line, until Fabes gets used to driving it, comes on at around 3000 rpm and makes max HP at 6100 rpm, lost about 3 hp with the vent change, but
it pulls much better down low, It sounds great on the dyno!!! screeming its lungs out!
Also took mine up for a run, Also changed vents from 44's to 43's, and went back a bit in jetting, and bumped up the timing to 32 total, and found
another 5 hp. and it didn't ping on 98 octain unleaded fuel. lesson learned "bigger is not always better"
Today I left sholdered my berg linkage for a better cross shaft hex bar linkage, I have been trying to get that Berg linkage syncronized for 2 years,
the new one took 2 minutes, so now both carbs get full throttle at the same time, and it idles. Changed over to a coil pack electronic ignition, as I
was having trouble with my magneto's advance, now it is much smoother down low.
Looking forward to Warwick now big time!!
Big thanks to Mike at Custom Bugs and Buses for his time and help on the dyno and the work he put in on the car during the week, and Henry for his
advice and bringing his spare Weber Vents and jets.:thumb

It is just Compufire, the one that has the alloy cap that replaces the stock cap and rotor, It has a coil pack that the plug wires go from. Rod sells
them, very basic and cheap

So Dave,
How did it go on the Dyno and then at Warwick?
Lets hear some power figures and how it went.
I saw one run where Fabian looked like he had changed personality!!..Doctor Hyde
It sounds very strong in the upper rev range!

Dave,
Fabes had a good day at Warwick, he just needs to get used to the car, he was leaving the line too easy and shifting at 6000 rpm, we kept telling him
he had to "hate it" his best time was 8.1 @ 86 mph? I think.
He gave me a drive, (that was the loose one you saw) I changed the shift light to 7200 rpm, but missed the lights coming down, hit it hard off the
line and it went sideways, just missed the wall and wobbily all the way down, pulled very hard in 2nd and 3rd, it was big speed at the end but no
time, couldn't stop for the return road and had to use the grass, when I got back (still shaking) I checked his tyre pressures with my gauge and they
were 28 psi in one and 12 psi in the other tyre!!, I think he was trying to kill me. After that was fixed he found it much better to drive and thats
when he did his 8.1, still bogging the start.
Engine made 171hp at the wheels on Mike's Dyno, so with some driver practice it should be in the 7's soon.

You need the sticker of Dave Stokers car on the dash
" Drive it like you Stole it "
It was good to see the car go down the track for the first time

Hi Dave , I tried to explain to Fabian that tyre pressures are not about the average pressure of the 2 rear tyres . When you are putting in 20psi you
dont add the 2 rear tyre pressures and divide them by 2 , the same amount should go in both tyres . Ha Ha !!:beer
