Thats pretty much stock.... change a few things and turn up boost and up goes torque... I love torque and turbos. You would be looking more like
400nm, with the mods you cant help making.

I don't know where others are getting their torque figures from, but I thought Subaru would be a good source. Check the table on page 3, and the
graph on page 15 of this pdf;
http://www.surrealmirage.com/subaru/files/SAE_boxer.pdf
So Subaru say 27.5 kgf.m,
which is about 270Nm of torque,
which is about 200ft.lbs of torque.
so if the Porsche box can handle 360ft.lbs then it will handle the 200ft.lbs from the EJ20t no problems. Plenty of room for more boost even.

My 320Nm figure came from Subaru media site. That's at 3600rpm, for the current-generation cars. Older cars will no doubt have less twist. STi has
392Nm at 4000rpm.
From past experience don't be tempted to fiddle with any '207kW
upgrades' to the standard ECU (required for legal rego/engineering) as the shorter exhaust will only cause problems with boost spikes etc
You will have a road rocket!

Why will a shorter exhaust effect/cause boost spike. It will cause it to lean out, although that depends on what you do with the air going in and
where your bov plumbs back. Boost spike is often caused by the boost controller, as it tricks the wastegate and thus its progressive opening is left
till later and the wastegate may not respond quick enough at the final setting to control boost to your setting. Just putting a controller on, without
turning it up, will make the turbo spool up harder and faster.

Ok, I'd made up my mind to go with a 915, and then I just found a G50 4-speed going cheap.. ($2500). Came out of a running 930, but I can't test
it etc... so MAY need a rebuild.. (Im guessing a rebuild would be big $$$)
Ricola - You said the 915's aren't the quickest shifts in the world.. Does anyone know what the G50's are like?? (out of an 85 930)...
I know its only 4 speed, but just weighing up whether it would be better to get this cheap and rebuild it (if it needs it) so I know what i've got -
or go for a 915 5-speed... (Slower shifting - more $$$ - weaker?)
Thanks again people! :thumb

I think a second hand G50 that may need a rebuild would be opening a can of worms. It could get very expensive.

You're right Wes.
I think I need to pull the box out of mine due to a whine and growl in the box - which I think signifies an input shaft bearing on the way out, at the
least, who knows.
I'm seriously dreading the dollars that may be involved to be honest.
Easier not to drive the car much for now....

915s have a slower shift due to using Porsche's own design for the synchro, nothing to do with the throw, they just don't like being shifted quickly
and a quick shift can do more damage as it just forces the situation. Having said all that, they aren't THAT bad, I used one in my speedster daily
and nobody seems to complain about them in the old 911 RS. Just don't expect perfect 0-100 times without premature aging..
I've used a G50 and they shift like a more modern box, nice and snickety. Given the choice from scratch, I'd go built 1303 AT or G50, but for a 911
if the right donor car comes along with good 915 I'd stick with it, clutches are a lot cheaper than G50 ones too.
Whatever the box, I'd be reluctant to buy one with uncertain history as you are bound to end up paying the same again rebuilding it..
