How that small minded!!!! The rentals are not high enough for me and all the other slum lords, and as for the government I didn't vote for them they
are not mine My ideal govt would stop welfare and terminate the pregnancys of the unemployed and let me increase rents above 15% at a time

So Craig, who made you "what is OK to do to your VW police"?
Some dyed in the wool VW people would think its sacrilege to modify a VW like you have done to race it, I can see a fine in mail to you in the near
future for selling Kafer Cup bars, fitting these only encourage racing, I'll get my tongue out of cheek now.

silver when you actually know what you are talking about please feel free to comment, untill you have factual information, please shut up!
i would love to work as hard as anybody else on this site, but again YOUR government restricts me, i'm not allowed to work extra over time, because i
have a minimum wage my boss is very happy to pay that and no more!
I am not allowed a second job, etc etc, the joys of being a foreign worker you see, exploited by buisness and ripped of by the rest of you, if i can
make a few bucks selling vw's abroad, i'm afraid you forced me into it, i have to do it to pay the freckin rent!!!!!

ripped off by the rest of you???
you ARE a foreign worker, and I presume are free to leave if you dont like the conditions and regulations put in place by THE government.
Instead of bringing the VW to you, maybe you should go to it... so you dont need to poach OZ VW's to make a living.

Hi All,
I have thought about this for ages and read a lot of Volks Worlds in my time, most projects involve buying a VW, keeping the roof and the windows and
welding everything else up often with rust free panels from the US.
The Europeans have it tough with Snow, Salt and Rust. They know they got it wrong when they sent the convicts here, they should have left the convicts
in the UK and settled the goodies here instead.
I was recently in London and went to a VW show and I can tell you they know how to put on a good show, their regulations are different to ours too,
basically if the floor of your car does not have any holes in it after an ipsection with a screwdriver you can register it, so the "Rat Look is
really allowing many cars back on the road" These guys do sooo much work to get their cars to our wrecking yard quality. I know there are still lots
of early Beetles out in the bush, and I am afraid my kids will not have an Old VW to drive around in, but I will face that challenge then.
I feel ashamed at what I have wrecked over the years that I thought was too much work or no-one would take it off my hands for free or even for a case
of beer. But, the Europeans will repair anything and many cars here that wont sell or go to the crushers will be appreciated and restored over
there.
Once Australia pulls its finger out and becomes the clean energy source the world is screaming for we will be rich like the OPEC countries and will be
able to bring all the cars back that the Europeans have worked so hard on restoring.
If someone wants what you have and the price is right, sell it. I would not leave $5000 cash siting in my driveway, but no-one locally yet has given
me $5000 for my 99% rust free 54 Beetle, so it may end up overseas.
Cheers,
See you at Nambucca,
David

we'd all love them to stay here, but unlike here people in the uk will pay big $ to own a vw.
Lets say;
someone in oz will only pay you $10 000 and the guy in the uk will pay you $30 000, what would you do? Your heart tells you to keep it in oz. But that
new project of yours could do with an extra $20k injection couldnt it!
As i see it, most people in oz dont want to pay much for anything, the car scene revolves around alot of talk.
OS people are willing to put big bucks on the table to pay for their hobby.
Whilst walking down one row of cars at a show in the USA or UK i'd say their is more money spent on 20 cars there than the whole lot of them at the
nationals here..
I would not wait around and take 15 years to finish a project for the sake of some $.
My hobby is building cars, not collecting parts. yes it takes alot of cash If this scares you, take up knitting.

Personally, I think this is morally wrong, as the more that go OS the less chance my kids or grandkids will see a VW driving on the road.
I run a VW/Porsche resto business and,yes, I have bought and sold a few VW's.
Every one of them I have done substantial repairs to, to ensure they will never see the graveyard, turned down offers from overseas buyers and created
cars that have drawn people into the scene.
I am sick of workshops and people buying cars, doing nothing to them and either selling them overseas or for ridiculously escalated prices. This
just makes it unaffordable for every day people to get into the scene.
I personally will not support these money hungry people/shops and hope others will follow.

what do you mean by "our cars"
i dont mind cars going to u.s and g.b but under no circumstances should they be sold to queenslanders bloody cane toads comming in here and snapping

infact lets stop exporting all together......anything ........we dont need any export dollars weve got printing machines why not just print more money
give every ozzy a million or two then we can go overseas n buy back all those lost vw's

I sold my first rusted beyond a normal persons care fastback to someone in Newcastle who wanted it only for the brakes. He came down to Wollongong to
pick it up. too.
Later, I couldnt sell my rust free fastback shell so it went to the scrap dealer for nothing. I couldnt sell guards for $10 at the nationals, ended up
giving them away to a workshop. I would have been happy for a greedy pom to take mine off me. With the aussie dollar at 98 cents, we can sell all of
ours to blighty and then import more from the US.
