Interesting to see the Baywindow rear trailing arms. Did it take much effort to fit them up?

My CB is now my daily drive. The best decision I've made was putting it on the balljoint / IRS pan.

It seems to me a lot of a CB owner's focus would be on what the intended primary use of the vehicle would be.
It you plan on slogging around in the "boonies", short here in the US for boondocks (meaning basically for off pavement, open country driving), then
having the original T2 gear reduction boxes which limits top end velocity, but affords some real low end, slow, labored work, would be the thing to
have your CB equipped with.
If however you are always, or nearly so, zooming down paved roads, playing imagined F1 jockey, then the ball joint/IRS rear suspension would be a much
better choice.
John, how about a road test performance report on that 2009 CB of yours???
Given your Formula Vee background, something tells me you might be doing some real tearing about in that beauty.
Have you been to the top end yet?
Had the thing wound out yet to really see what she's capable of???
Since your CB is set up for the street, I suspect you have tweaked that stock suspension a bit........not that anyone else would know......until they
can't stay with you in a corner.
Regards,
Steve

That's KO 861. I've got the KO tag off it. It was outside the scrap dealers yard here in Whyalla a while back. I had no room to store one that
rough, couldn't let the scrappy have the tag. Then I see it's gone and the rehister says it was "saved from the crusher". Reckon even John would
have trouble with that one. You can have the tag if you're going to rebuild it. You've got a motor at your place that belongs to me so we'll be
seeing each other soon. There's a couple of other pictures of it in the gallery.
Cheers
Tony

3 in a row?
I read this story ages ago and thought, like others that it was special to have 2 KO's in a row.
Just to add a little interest to the chance of someone owning 2 numbers in a row, I have just checked a CB that I have had in storage for 25 odd
years.
Amazingly, it is KO 589.
There is now an opportunity for someone to have 3 in a row.
I still have so many projects and not enough time
I have pics now but will need to send to someones email as uploading on this site defies me. I can't even workout photobucket etc.

oh no way. you guys are going to be the death of me. after spending a week solid on ko587 - with regular walks over to 588 to check how thungs go -
you go and post about ko589. i just have to work out how close to a divorce i would be if ko589 came here to join its sisters. i'm going back to the
shed to cry while i do some more wiring and ponder over the possibilities.......

Peter,
Its just another little bit of work to do in your spare time. Would be something special. You might be lucky in that Grazza has not yet declared if
KO589 is for sale.
If he makes that decision then there is some thinking to do that might end up in tears

Update on KO587 while I dream about 589
Progress on KO587 has been rapid the last few weeks, with me starting to finally feel that it is getting close to completion. Here's a couple of pics
showing where she is up to. You will note that there are many "non-standard" items. Starting as I did with a car that had been so heavily cut up
(flared guards, IRS etc) there was no way I could ever bring this old girl back to original. So I have made a few subtle changes: Bumpers are black
not grey but that matches roll bar; Seats are high back buckets - what a crime; the glove box is made from a salvaged instrument panel with holes
welded up - hides the stereo and CB (speakers are outdoor units mounted under the seats; extra fuse box under cargo tray for power to accessories
& alarm/immobiliser. Just trying to organise tyres this week and plumb up fuel lines etc (fuel hard line and throttle cable tube were both blocked
solid). Then a lot of small tidy up jobs and will be soon ready to try firing up the engine (1500 single port with mild cam.

This CB looks very, very nice to me.
That's the way lust goes.............
The OEM stock look doesn't always suit the situation.
Nice job!

I worry about this site, seen this "no pictures" issue before. Now I worry about my pictures. Seems I'll have to become a Photo Bucket user.
Looks good Peter, I'll be in Adelaide on the weekend, might come and see you if you're around?

Hi Bill. We had quite an impatient wait for KO589 to get here. It was pretty exciting dropping her off ther trailer. Managed to squeeze it in behind
587 - not sure if it can be next or if I make good on my long overdue promise to get to type 34. Here is a pic of 587 with 589 in the background. We
will try to line the 3 of them up for a group photo some time soon.Have organised tyres this week and will have them on Mon. Still waiting for seals
(windscreen, bonnet & bootlid) to arrive and hope to get them on soon. Pete

Have been busy on KO587 again. Ordered windscreen bonnet & boot seal from Spectrum rubber just before Xmas. They arrived at last so I fitted the
seals and installed the windscreen. I did not have the original windscreen pivot brackets so copied the ones from the drive side of KO588. This has
the mirror arm mount. I now have a pair which allows me to L & R side mirrors. For this aim I ordered a pair of the round stainless items used on
splitties. They mounted up really well and look the part.
I had one windscreen wiper arm with ball joint on it and one plain. Scrounged up a set of twin carb linkages and an old carbie; then removed the ball
from the carb and welded it to the 2nd wiper arm. Then, cut the carb linkage in two, made up a joiner from a length of copper tube and fitted it
between the two wiper arms. The wipers now operate in the correct manner - with the motor driving the RH wiper and the linkage moving the LHS.
Have also managed to sort out selection of tyres. Wanted to stick to rubber with similar rolling diameter and keep track as close as possible
(original spec has rear narrower than front but with IRS teh difference on 587 is compounded). Have ened up with 4.5" standard rims on front with
185-80 15 on front and 5" rims on rear with Toyo off road rubber in 205 70 15. Circumference comes up pretty close to one another. With rims all
painted up in black & tryes fitted it looks great.
