The " I know boats" syndrome is something that has amused me for years. I have a 4WD so I wont get stuck LOL.

Personally Hire Troopies are the vein of my existence. not knowing which way they are heading on the beach is drama in a big bus. Beach has a slope, you indicate which way you are going and all you see if the drivers arms crossing up and the car lurching every way. I simply stop and wait for them to go past cause a bus can be pretty top heavy and she can lean pretty hard and end up on it's side if you do something stupid.

Best way to avoid them in a buggy is drop the tyres real low and stay up in the soft stuff LOL. the hard sand bandits are the ones who cause you the most drama and they stay near (or in) the water LOL.

I only stayed for a few days but had to go home on monday my co pilot who at the last minute found out that i didnt have anyone coming with me decided to invite himself and he is a strange person at the best of times and i thought it best to go home before he did something stupid and made a good week a bad one the people who met him know what i mean,
but in my short stay i did manage to have a heap of fun the best was pete smoking the chuppa chup he came outside coughing and spitting and saying somthing about smoking a chuppa chup so i found out later that laura or someone bought along a smoking thing (bong) used for smoking indian/ arabic tabaco that was flavered with apple/grape and another with berry or somthing and they were all giving it a go pete thought he would be brave and i beleave he was not impressed

This is the Porsche that Barry was talking about.... It was taken at the Freshwater track. We happily idled around through the soft sand in our 2wd Kombi, but the guy driving the 4wd Porsche wouldnt let his tyre pressures down. We offered to help, but with that attitude we left them to themselves and just took pics.

I'm happy to help anyone on the beach or bush, but when they wont listen and they know better, well then we'll just drive on.

For all those who are chassing mor buggy fix's than they can find I am currently putting togeather a DVD of the trip. Although I am a You Tube newby I think I have managed to upload a quick snipit showing the EG 33 powered Baja bus built by Custom Vee Dub. Luckily for me I write code much better than I edit Video's and as this is one of my first and it took about 5 mins to do the product shows this.

I have about 5 hrs of footage to flog through in search of stuff worth editing, so much crap .. we really need to invest in some tripods.

Oh well I hope you enjoy it, if I get a chance I will post a short one of Buggy Boat .....

I spotted the buggy with TOY numberplate and a COR sticker on the front at the eurong beach resort parked in front of the bakery on friday night! I went over last thursday for a few days, came back today! I was hoping I would see a buggy or a baja, it made my day :D

hmm I think so, I would say that was what the sticker said but Andrew forgot to put one on his bus.

That being said out of the 4 Subaru powered VW's there Custom Vee Dub had either done it drive in / drive out or supplied the parts and advice for the owners to do it themselves.

If you want to know more about it then contact them direct or visit their website http://www.customveedub.com.au

Yep we did, it was great wether, great people. We did learn a lot about things and have already booked for the 2010 Fraser Island Trip which will be bookings in advance only and have the following rules:

- Payment must be made in FULL prior to 1 Jan 09.
- Offroad VW's only ie Buggies / Baja's (No 4WD's)
- All vehicles MUST HAVE the Vehicle mounted UHF.
- All vehicles MUST HAVE Approved front and rear tow points.
- All vehicles MUST HAVE an "Approved Snatch Strap".

It just looses some of the appeal when you have 4WD's in the group and people without good UHF comms are a PITA. Recovery points you would think where obvious along with a snatch strap, but not obvious enough for some people.

2010 will also be the year of the Buggy and with effect 1 Jan 10 these rules will apply to all Manx Club events to ensure a higher level of safety and fun for all.

So if you badge it as a buggy, drive it as a buggy then you think it with proform as a buggy ?

I have driven a few Sierra's over the years and I found them damn scary on teh beach trying to drive at speed. I have never seen a Sierra doi 80 kmph at high tide :>

Great shots, thanks for posting....starting to wonder why I sold my buggy. Oh, thats right...Canberra winter....

MY buggy is still going :D tow'd it back to the house after the creek inicident and drained the oil, pulled the plugs and stuff, wacked her back together and she fired up no no worries ready for another action packed day. Few drama's after i got her back to syd but alll in all she's pretty much back to square 1 now, running well and prepared for summer and stockton!

& i swear it wasnt my fault getting stuck in there, i was driving in the shallow part until a wave crashed over the sand bank (and me) and drifted my buggy to the middle of the lake.

Hows the DVD going Brad? cant wait to see !!

Dude, I'm pretty sure you were driving, that makes it your fault

The tide had been coming in for hours, it was only a matter of time until the waves came over the sand bank.

What is it with Gen Y and not taking responsibility for their own actions.
