Big Thanks to the BAD LITTLE BUGGERS for once again turning it on, we all appreciate the huge effort involved. Ive been doing the cruse for a few
years now and i feel a little differently than some on the thread. I think the idea of the cruse is to slow EVERYBODY down.. in previous years when
everyone is bunched tight . the cars going past and the ones on the side of the road absolutely love it. If people have to wait a few minutes on a
Sunday morning whats the big deal? i`m sure telling the story of seeing so many vw`s makes up for it. i know safely is an issue and getting of the
highway earlier is a great idea, but i my opinion, i`d just love to see everyone together.. that would mean the lead car keeping it really slow till
everybody got out of the car park at Boondall too. Thanks again guys, And great to see so many Kombi`s ... did someone tell the beetles it was
cancelled?

I think you needed to be at the back of the line.
We had people sticking fingers up, the odd horn and evil looks as they drive by. Almost lost the side mirror when a truck went past, and we were as
far off the road as a lowered car could get.
I think the idea of comming in the back way is a good one.

But that was because the highway was blocked, not because we were cruising as a group. i`ve been at the back in previous years but mabey ettamoga
wasn't as big an issue.. My only point is that if the cruse is going to be split up, then why would a lot of us drive long distance to go to boondall
in the first place, may as well just drive straight there?
maybe we should find a couple of vw cops? Flashing light escort would look great!

Yeah, I cry myself to sleep because I'm so jealous.
I'm pretty sure the guy with the black baja who won would have agreed with me that the layout wasn't fair. I spoke to him, he was a nice guy. He was
looking at my car for ideas as his car was a work in progress. He had bits of the interior missing and was about to embark on a suby engine
conversion.

It isn't about jealous it is about "Fair Go" and since lot of Aussies pride themselves in it I think it is quite fair to expect that all cars get
an even amount of showing and public awareness.
Why have class areas if not everyone is going to get put in them ? If people are not careful then next year guys will rock up early to get a good
voteable position regardless of identified areas and the entire setup goes to crap.
That being said, Wes has enough stuid trophies in his garage you can't see now so adding more to the collection is stupid anyway.

I find it funny that others can say what I said (with more detail)...

buggies/offroad cars were hidden out of view was not fair for the category, the club, the punters paying their 10 bucks and most off all to the
sponsors who supported the categories.
I understand there was a PA problem??? maybe this added to the issue ie people could have been prompted to go around the corner etc. nevertheless not
really fair on the offroaders.
|
..yet when I say something similar as a small comment to a friend (Andy), some people want to jump out and tell me I'm jealous and need to move on.
Clearly, people forget this is an internet forum and the point of this thread was to discuss issues with the venue. Even the organisers have said in
this thread that next time they need to keep the categories together.
I've already moved on. My car is not intended to be a show car. I didn't drive straight to the venue. I went to Boondall and went on the cruise
because that is what the day is about. And when a friend broke down I stopped and got his car going again.
And while I am upsetting people, I might as well say that the red buggy probably only won because he was parked in front of the voting booth in clear
view of everyone. Nicer cars like Paul's Manx were hidden out the back with the offroaders. Since the category was not together, we'll never now
which was really the "peoples choice".
Paul's buggy that many probably didn't see (pics are actually at the manxclub AGM);

Wow that green manx is nice. I'll have to admit that we had no idea the offroaders were all hidden around the corner, and we just voted on what we
could see. I'm assuming we weren't the only ones.

I guess what people that didn't go won't realise is just how hot it was on the day. I, like most people, just wanted to quickly get the voting done
and then go hide inside the pub or pie shop from the heat! So I understand why people didn't search around for cars as much as they might have if it was a cooler day

I was one of the ones that did venture out the back to see the buggies. But i didn't hang around for to long.
Just because of the heat that was coming out of that area. Not only did you have the heat from the sun, but the heat coming up out of the ground in
the grass area made things even more uncomfortable to stick around and take a look at the quality cars around there.

Don't worry Wes, I found the buggies, and all the nice VW's in the bottom car park!
Did anyone else count how many Synco's made a showing on the day?? I almost had to pull my shoes off to count them all. I think these guy's need a
class of their own!
I'm just sorry I polished the car for the day, not sure anyone even noticed mine!!

I knew it would be hot so that was why I took my quick shaed and an esky full of cold cans of coke. If you managed to walk to the very bottom of the
carpark out the front( while we are talking about not being seen LOL) I was tucked in behind the end of the semi trailers almost out of sight.
I don't really care as I definately know my car shouldn't win a trophy and if it did i'd laugh my head off!! A lot of people i know and usually
chat to at this event didn't even know I was there due to where I was parked. Ahh well I had shade, cold drinks, comfy chair and music to listen too
so for us it was all good.....

Lets hope the club will listen about the categories, what was disappointing was we approached the organiser chief guy very early in the day and warned
him that we had more buggies on the way and we were using the day to relaunch the Manx Club etc etc and wanted to keep buggies together and he
didn't seem to want to hear it .
so whilst I agree with Wes the voting wasn't fair and good cars missed out, but for our club and as I mentioned on page 1 the buggy building
businesses that sponsor trophies I am sure it went even further than that.
