.........nice

IMO....HP is a pissing contest.

Its worth is in tuning but the real test is on the track

My 1600 has bugger all HP but bugger all weight, but can hold it's head up at the track so I really don't care how much HP it has.

So in your case your time down the quarter is YOUR pissing contest .......whether you're chasing a time or a HP figure, its the challenge of seeing how you can do it better in my books.

Who invented "pissing in the cabbage and call it food"??!!

That stuff stinks.

A scene at the McDonalds in Berlin:

Helmut asks his supervisor:
"We're running low on Sour Kraut for the Um-lout Burgers Sir".

Helmut's supevisor, Shvatzy says:
"Quick Helmut, piss on that cabbage and leave it out in the sun!"

Note how I have combined humour and the topic of pissing.

OH!, hang on, it was all about Volksys wasn't it.

Oh well.

Since we shifted across to boosted engines,
my 1775cc blower engine made 275hp with 7.25 comp and 28psi.
It ran as quick as 10.65 @126.8mph and weighed nearly 800kgs.(1750lbs)

365 000k's on that engine when i dropped a valve. case hasn't been split since it was built. All I did was repair the damaged head and replace exhaust valves, one damaged piston and rings.

So in my books it is STILL the same engine as all i have done was repair the damage. If it had a total rebuild then it would be a new engine so obviously that isn't the case.....

I thought it had a non stock cam?

it has done 365000 kays on that cam since it has been ground,
three out of the four rods and pistons,
and those heads since they were ported?

Yeah, my pauter engine has done more kays than that,
since the dizzy drive is from 1960 1200cc.

We built a new 1600c engine back in 93 for our beetle and it has done 185,000 since then and is going great still. At the 155k mark, we restored the car but the engine only had the heads tidied up a bit and that was it.

hey yogie, i sure if the car is driven steady it would last plenty long enough, but i know how brennden drives his kombi, nothing under 6000rpm most times he drives it or till the lifters pump up and thats no joke, he canes the crap out of it all the time so to last as long as it has is pretty good.

365 000k's on that cam since it was ground. All the rods are the rods that were put in it when it was rebuilt and are the original rods from that engine in the car. 3 of the 4 pistons are the pistons that were put in it when it was rebuilt waaaay back in about 1995. The heads are the same heads ported that were put on the engine when it was built. One of the heads is off the original motor out of my bus and one is an AMC to replace the original one that was destroyed when it dropped a valve at 100km'hr with 1600 gearing.

The original engine out of my bus when it finally died was all original. VW rings, pistons, valves etc etc. All the rods, crank, case and one of the heads are all the original engine. Cam was a new billet grind when the engine was first built.

When i was detailing I was averaging 1000-1200km's a week. Oil changes were about every 4-5 weeks.

And yes as Troy said it copped a fair hiding most of it's life whilst lugging around all my detailing gear hence why I am a fan of the type 4 engine.....
