Yes, the VWMA Drag Rat has found a new home. The little rat has been a great car, and is a sound base for Ben and Morgan to take it to the next stage. Thanks to Rod Penrose for the engine and Dave Butler for the transmission, the rat ran its best time at Portland with an 8.30@80mph. And it was still haulin'. I only grabbed 4th at the line, so Ben should have some decent fun on the 1/4 mile.

Paint? That's extra weight! :lol: Although I guess there is the streamline factor....

Hi Guys , If anyone is going to enter for compak attak get in now befor prices go up , plus at this stage only 5 allmotor entries which is not enough for a bracket . If anyone has questions give Ray Box a call now . I don't want to travel down to Sydney for no bracket to race in .

I'm sure that Pete could show us all a thing or two in regard to how to get the best out of our Volkswagens.
As a side issue, Maybe, if we all stand behind Pete's car when he's running we can generate enough wind for him to feel at home (just like Portland)
Seriously though, I can't wait for Compak. Good Luck to ALL competitors and safe driving to all coming a long way (NRMA Road Service number is 131111)
From recent personal experience, check your relevant ANDRA lisences as I missed out on Round 4 of Sydney Dragway Bracket Championships last week as my ANDRA lisence was just out of date

It was a cunning plan but like a lot of my ideas it fell in a heap on the ground!So no sydney,but i've now got a hankering for a nitrous 1641 for casino airport 8th mile!got the 1641,must have an easy 120,ooo ks on it so its well seasoned and i've got 3/4's of the nitrous system!Troy i need the stock heads for a strret engine when i blow up the 1641 in casino i can get home!

We have a bracket with 10 entries , with 4 vw bugs if all goes well . Remember to turn up on Sunday 28 march not Saturday .
Things to do ,
Complete head cage ( I have body off)
Clutch is off being service , refit clutch and motor
finished bead rolling rear tin , refit tin
service engine , tappets , oil,filter,
and CLEAN ALL of CAR ( portland dirt)

Hi All,

With the Haltech Compak Attak only a week away the issue of Flywheel shields has been raised so to head of any issues on the day of the event following is the ANDRA Rules on it.

From ANDRA General Regs

4.2.6 Flywheel Shields / Bell-housing
All other clutch equipped cars running quicker than 11.00 (1/4 mile) / 7.00 seconds (1/8 mile) are required to use a steel or titanium bell-housing or shield. A totally enclosing 360 degree, one-piece bell housing must be formed or fabricated entirely from 6mm (1/4 inch) steel plate and attached directly to the rear of the engine. Where used, flywheel shields must be constructed so they completely surround the clutch failure. The shield should be constructed from 6mm (1/4 inch) steel plate, and extend forward to a point at least 25mm (1 inch) ahead of the flywheel, and 25mm (1 inch) to the rear of the clutch and pressure plate. Shields must not be bolted to the bell-housing and should attach securely to the frame /chassis. All shields or bell-housings must be removed from the vehicle for checking during the Technical Inspection. An engine support strap made of steel or aircraft cable (chain not accepted) capable of supporting the rear of the engine in case of bell-housing failure is required on all cars, unless it is evident that the headers or frame rails will prevent the engine from dropping.


Be aware that Ballistic Blankets are NOT legal. If you are running a Ballistic Blanket I suggest you contact immediately.

Thanks Westi , rear engine sedans , vw's and porsche are exempt on blanket , for moment .
A rotary dragster had a clutch exsplosion at Calder , bits came through blanket then hit someone in crowd .
Now a lawsuit is happening .
