Finally got a part number off the box - 1305 614 005. Sorry it took me so long!

THANKS A LOT!...I check this thread everyday just to see the progress..The car is great and some details are awesome. I´d personally go with more "retro" looking wheels, but its your car and its still one of the best restorations I´ve ever seen.

Photo is a little blurry (hand is a little shaky after a few beers tonight!)... wolfsburg crest (off earlier model) also polished up and back in place. Rechromed bonnet handle to go back on after I pick up the latch mechanism from powdercoater.

mannn... sweet resto... I wish I had the time/money/experience to restore my own notch like that. I have been dreaming of maaking my notch a german looker. Excellent work and what astounds me as well is the way you have been documenting your progress with this project. It servers not only as inspiration and a good resource for future resto nuts out there.

Thanks for sharing.. and more pics :bounce

Not too much to report in last few days. Did fork out some more cash (for something different.....not) on some new 6.5in Dynaudio 240GT splits. They sound absolutely awesome, can't wait to get them running!

Thank you both! It certainly is a slow process but good for y'all watching this thread to realise the actual time it takes to do a full resto since it is updated in real time.

Lot of bloody work but will be worth it eventually!

Cheers CT, your oval was always a source of inspiration with its awesome paint - I remember it a few years back at Raleigh raceway. Spoke to you briefly in the pit area when you were tuning your webbers. I love to see someone giving such a beautiful car some stick like you do!

Leave him alone...

this car is a masterpeice.

And yes he could do it faster, but which would u have him give up, family or surf...

one keeps him grounded, other keeps him sane, one keeps him connected to society

u work out which...:thumb

das, the work is fantastic. I lvoe logging on and seeing if u updated...and when u do, I always inspired to do more on my cars. :)

but what will u do when ur finished, u'll have so much more time on ur hands....:)

Hehehe....I know its all in jest. I had hoped to have it done for last Valla show so after establishing, then subsequently blowing out all expected dates of completion, I'm resided to the fact that it will get finished when it gets finished.

You're right though, if I forced myself to work on it just to get it done, I'd end up not enjoying it and therefore start to cut corners and god forbid not finish it at all! Not thats going to happen now though!

Well after this one is done, there is another full body off resto to complete on a 68 beetle (not to the same extent as this one though) - it will be sold as soon as its finished! So stay tuned over the next 6-12 months!

Anyway, lunch time is over, better get back to the beetle!

Nothing too exciting to report today - just fiddled with door internals for a while and had to run around chasing bits. Got a new windscreen (thanks to dannyboy for the advice). Will fit it tomorrow along with rear window. Also more sound deadener to go on.

This pic you can see the side trim on finally. Hopefully tomorrow will trial fit the narrowed beam finally (got the remaining tie rod from custom offroad the other day).
