Cheers Doug, the exhaust is very nice - can't wait to hear what it sounds like.

Jan, brrrr....looks kinda chilly over there! Re. indicators I would say most likely the little bullet harley style ones that will be nestled in close to the early over-riders on the bumper (or maybe below). Still a little undecided.

...thank god I "massaged" the body to fit the 80mm narrowed beam before I painted the car!

At first I couldn't figure out why I couldn't locate the steering box in the correct position - realised the grease nipple was in the way so I had to remove it. Most likely will have to plug it, drill and tap the beam in a different spot to allow a grease point - ahh the joys of modifying!

The pitman arm also had to be modified to fit due the the 80mm lost out of the beam.

Thats probably because it is not finished! ;)
There is no point in me putting the apron on now as it will have to come off again soon...so you'll just have to wait I'm afraid.

Number plate is nothing special, but like the apron it will be seen some time soon.

Anyway, front suspension temporarily bolted up again and guards back on.

The 3 and a bit inches taken out of the beam has tucked the wheels in nicely. I have temporarily added some washers (to a width of around 16mm) between the disc and wheel bolt surface so I can work out the width of the spacers I'll need made up.

911 glass in headlights just there temporarily (like a lot of stuff!) - not worth putting this stuff in permanently until I get the wiring sorted.

Just out of interest - why didnt you just narrow the beam 48mm??? ie 80 - 16 - 16 = 48mm??

So inportant to get the wheels to fill the guards.
You got it perfect.

Still... i recon struts are easier to do :thumb

Nice work.

Not long now ???

Mainly because I could not determine accurately how wide the spacers needed to be before I got the beam and guards back on. At initial estimates the spacers had to be anywhere between 15 and 30mm (will probably get them 20mm). In the case where 30mm each side was required, I needed to ensure I had enough out of the beam to account for this (plus I wanted to tuck the wheels in a little more than originally anyway).

It is a lot easier to get wider spacers than it is to re-narrow an already narrowed beam! So I figured better to go more than less.

Re. finish date - still have to rewire the whole thing which will take a while....but its getting there.

Yeah the first half of the story was lost when the forum crashed ages ago (that is why this thread is named "part 2") - I've posted the link to the manx club website where the full story is situated before....but always good to get another link up for people who haven't seen it thus far.

Cheers again for the compliments. :kiss

Bolted on the amp rack tonight just to see how it looks and to prepare (eventually) to make the fibreglass surround.
