I removed the base in once piece today (didn't get as much done as I hoped because surf was good!!) - its obviously thin still - more layers will be added for additional strength.

Cut the big piece in half for easier management and to enable both sides to be sealed independently.

After marking it up (in previous pic) I cut it to shape with air cut off wheel (dremel with cutting disc would do the same) - not a bad fit seen here.

I made the 6 1/2 in splits MDF rings as well as rings for tweeters (not shown here) so they are flush mounted - for appearance and so I don't kick and damage them. This is all I got to today unfortunately.

Hmmm...will be a hard choice. I think I will be nervously listening for strange noises, rattles, bangs, pings etc for the first few trips so most likely won't have tunes on! But I think maybe Dumb Enough from Hilltop Hoods will be getting a run early on - in fact I'm lovin the whole album at the moment. :thumb Should be able to really give that sub a workout!

Hey Das, Hilltops Rock, I went to school with them at Blackwood up in the hills in Adelaide and we all used to hang out at the blackwood roundabout. Suppose that's where Hilltop Hoods came from. Get the first album 'left foot, right foot'. It's really good, like your car!
T54
If your after some other really cool and different hip hop, try Koolism, Mark B and Blade, Jurassic 5, BLACKALICIOUS, After Hours (another blackwood group), Certified Wise, Deltron 3030. None of these are your typical ghetto rappers always talking about guns, money, sl#ts, drugs etc. All positive and mostly about world issues, problems with society and how to draw positives from everthing. Hope you like them.

Finally got my latest delivery from Wolfsburg West (and yes before you complain about keeping $ here in Australia, I checked with two brisbane VW shops and from a list of around 20 items, only 1 was available).

Anyway, I previously got some como green running boards in but have decided they don't suit the paint so brought in some black covers. So the como green covers (not the boards themselves) are up for sale - U2U if anyone is interested. They cost US$19 each which equates to around AU$49 for the pair. So I'll take $40 (not including freight).

Retaped and drop sheeted the interior again and applied another two layers of fibreglass matt. Always tends to take longer than expected!

Picked up the Eclipse sub today - would like to mount it inverted but the rollcage gets in the way so it will sit like this:

The 6x9 holes are still to be glassed over soon. Thats it till next week - bring on the nats!

Maybe some LEDs to highlight some of the audio install but no under car neons for me thanks :duh

Speaking of audio, managed to hot glue the 6.5in woofer and tweeter mdf rings into position today using wooden dowel:
http://www.netspot4u.com/~manxclub/albums/album221/kicks11_Mar29.sized.jpg

Some careful positioning was required to ensure adequate clearance for feet...
http://www.netspot4u.com/~manxclub/albums/album221/kicks12_Mar29.sized.jpg

....and to try and obtain the best imaging as possible for the front stage (which is hard without seats in place and no power to run speakers...bit of a gamble but hopefully it will pay of).
