Ha Ha,
Me never. I have found that there is no point sticking with the original plan because you always find something else along the way. Like people's
ideas,so if anyone can help that would be cool. As I said from the start this is not a serous car so I am open to ideas.

Painted cage
I got the cage painted up soit does not rust. I am not going to paint it all properly because that would take too long!
I am building a new box for my tubbed streeter so this one is a hand me down that will slapp straight into the ratter. I had to put new sway away
1300 length axles in though.
Some other goodies I will use are sway away adjustable spring plates and torsion springs. Also the solid spring plate covers.

gearbox in
Finally got time to work on the junka again.
I got the axles and tubes on and put the box in.
It all lined up and bolted up perfectly. Passed the two 8mm steel fuel lines through the tunnel and mounted the mallpassie reg.

More time wasting on the crappy jobs I'm not keen on.
I had to seal up the cage to body holes.I mounted the LTX8 Microtech computer so I can start to wire it up.

VERY nice, man you have gone this far,why don't you add a roll bar and tie it in at the top of what you have already done, would take alot of pressure
off the torsion housing, excellent work ! Mike

Hey Nick.... Are you going to tie that subframe into the torsion housing and shock towers in some way?... I understand why you are keeping under the
car... A little more stealth than a rollcage, but it seems to me that you may still get some leverage movement on the torsion housing with the current
set-up.... Or then again... I may be just pissing in the wind here!

The ratios are stock for the street, welded 3+4 corse tooth gears and a super diff.
With about 180-200 kw@the wheels on pump gas it should be good for 12.10 even if it is lazy in the top end and does not 60 ft well. A fun streeter
though!

Thanks dude!
I realllllly don't want to put a cage in it because I always do that and then one thing leads to another and in the end they are not so streetable.
If the plan was to make big power and get it run a 10, I would definitely put a cage in for safety and strength like you said, but I think it's cool
enough for a streeter.

Wow.
Great work. I'm glad I stumbled upon your post.
I found it hilarious that after you displayed your impressive fabrication skills with the front end that some punter pointed out that the nitrous
bottle may not fit under the bonnet. Like that will be a problem!

Just a silly question..... why would you think it will be lazy in the top end with 180 - 200kw ? or do you just mean lazy compared to your race
bug......
I can understand why it wouldnt 60ft as well, just curious about the top end thats all.

What I mean is that without the correct gearing it has not got enough power to pull through 4th over the quarter, crossing the line at about 5000rpm.
It's all cool for the street but slower over the quarter. The correct 4th would improve the E.T. crossing the line at max rpm.
If you have a street set up in the rear end, it will not 60ft well with 200kw.The theory of VW's working well because of the weight over the rear
wheels goes out the window the more power you have. It tends to start just blasting the tyres in every gear. So you need to set it up properly to
handle the power or you will go slower over the quarter.
