Alan,
Running a EB Falcon TB with TPS (throttle position sensor) and IAC.
$40 from your local wrecker.

Hi Allen

I used an Autronic SMC on my old bug, it worked fine just like all these other system will.
The one big advantage was that Leigh AKA turboboy was running the same system, when I got my car ready to run, we put his map into my ECU, tweaked it a bit with an overall multiplication factor on the injectors until it sounded OK, drove to the dyno, quick dyno run with adjustment and it was sweet.

Quickfit in Hornsby did the dyno work and were very helpful, they don't have a dyno anymore. if I run Autronic on my next car they will lend me their Autronic gas analyser and will use the Autotune feature that the Autronic has, a run up the F3 free way and back along the old road should have it sorted.

As has already been said, I cant stress how important that it is for the dyno operator to be familiar with 1. your chosen system & 2. VWs

Also don't buy your system until the last minute, that way you are sure to get the latest system, I bought my Autronic about 3 years before I needed it, luckily for a small cost I was able to have the latest software installed in my unit including Autotune for a reasonable fee.

Allen,

I use an EMS 4424 on my EJ20T Beetle. Cheap and does the job. I have a bosch wide band sensor set up in exuast all the time, so I can use the autotune when ever. Also can use closed loop a/f control.

I think anything with pulse width modulated outputs, data logging, adjustable map points, closed loop and variable sensor configuration is the go. This way you can always adapt anything you want later on antilag, boost control, multi or single throttle body etc.

Like Steve says buy it last, they update the things every couple of months!

Thanks again for the ongoing advice and tips.....this is part of the reason why I haven't shelled out on anything yet (apart from lack of funds). I need to learn some more before handing over the hard earned cash! Thanks to Ian (2442TT) and Evan (tassupervee) for their email advice as well - I will have a few more questions to come!

ALan
